I see it as a cap dump for FLA. They need to extend Forsling/Reinhart/Montour. Crunched the numbers and it's going to be tight. Lundell is the 2C of the future for them, I can see Bennett being the odd man out.

Kaliyev costs more, and the Kings aren't looking for futures regardless.

Bennett ain’t leaving for nothing. They’ll figure it out without giving up such an important piece in their offense. Like getting rid of ekbad

Yeah he’s not good anymore. He’s slower than Marc staal and turns the puck over constantly and isn’t physical for someone his size. Been like that for like 3 years. He needs to play on the second line with someone who can actual play defense cause he can’t.

Wow! What happened? Is he battling some unknown nagging injury?

Anyone could have claimed Tyson Jost off waivers for basically free, now you want to sign him for $1.75m? He will get at best an NHL minimum deal in the summer.

No chance Bennett is a cap dump, he is exactly the type of player teams covet for the playoffs.

Ankle and concussion problems have pribanly
Led to his play. He can shoot the puck well but he’s just not the player he should have been. Hes not gonna be worth his next contract imo. But montour is playing his way into a lower contract but he’s still good just not last season good. So I dont think the panthers will be dumping players. The contracts may work in their favor unless someone gives 9-10 million to Reinhart.

I mean... I think Reinhart should easily get $9m plus. But, that depends on what teams are making offers. $8m in Florida is probably the equivalent to $11m in a high tax area.

I agree that Tarasenko is a good target for the Hawks to play w/ Bedard. Probably takes more to get him though. Maybe 2x$7m? Like Stecher as the 3 RD as well. I agree w/ the others on Bennett. He won't come that cheap.

I know I agree. But I’m just on the edge of is he doing this cause of a contract year or will this be his norm. First year he has like a ppg last year he was terrible first 25 games then was at a ppg pace again. Their defense has not been that good in the past few years so I’d rather maybe that better and lose some offense but that would mean lundell has to make a step forward which he hasn’t. Interesting off season incoming

Definitely. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if more teams started taking the Kyle Davidson approach. Maybe not full on teardowns like CHI, but having patience, not being afraid to trim the fat, and getting away from this culture of valuing offense way above defense. Yeah, offense is important and sells tickets, i guess, but it isn't everything.

Agreed look at Toronto/edmonton Never gonna be a good playoff team when defense is more important taht time of the year.
