Still a lot left to prove

same thing with wright! or all 19 years old really.

but to be honest my exptaction is that slaf will never live up to first overall pick, doesnt mean he will be a bad players at all!

i think he will be more of a strong 60 points player good in both ways of the ice.

if he ver becomes more, i will gladly take it!

You mean besides he's 19 and hasn't played 100 games yet.

I don't expect for him to reach the 100 pts mark, but since he put his physical play to win somes battles and making somes turnovers for the other team, I can expect him to reach in 2 years the 70-80 pts mark as his usual offensive stats each seasons.

But I never see a 1st overall selection receiving so much hate from the hockey fans.

“Bust” isn’t right label.

He was advertised by some as NHL ready after the Olympics, which was probably ambitious for 18-year old. Hughes even said himself, if he did it over again, he probably would have gone to Michigan for a year.

I also think the injury gets understated. At that age, they are still developing, but only when playing.

I have heard people use the “top six by year six” standard for high picks and I think it works most of the time. If Slaf isn’t playing in top-six by 2027/28, can call him a bust. In meantime, let the guy develop.

Well he was the first #1 pick by Montreal since 1980 and my fellow Habs fans are generally very passionate and not always the most patient, while other fan bases love to hate the Habs…

95 % of the hates of what I see on social medias are from fans of other teams..................................

Sure that if we was drafted by the Devils or the Coyotes, he will never receive this hates.

The problem is two things can be true at the same time.

- Hes been one of the worst producing 1st overall picks in modern day NHL history. (Through first 82 games played - Like even Patrick Stefan was ever so slightly better....)

- He's only 19 and his past 20 or so games have been so good that it almost makes the prior 60 games irrelevant. Its not the same player in the slightest anymore.
