Would you give up Knies+ to get him?

Depends on how much you believe in Minten and Cowan

Quoting: aadoyle
One of those also probs going in the deal to specifically Cowan

CBJ probs gonna want Knies + Cowen for Jireck

Quoting: Leafsfan98
If Knies is included? Probably would be Niemela going

I'd send cowen. I love the guy but DJ is here now while Cowen is a few away. My initial offer is cowen, Niemela, 1st

Gotta start with Knies.

Too many teams can crush TOR’s offer

I probably value Cowen higher than most. Don't have knies because we are trying to win now and he is already playing

There are very few players I would move Knies for. Jiricek is one of those few

The other thing about a player "that wants to be traded"....is the team shouldn't.
Now the other 10 guys with CBJ that don't they are being used properly demand to be traded....or 10 guys in the AHL that think they belong in the NHL.
Different when a veteran in his last controllable year or two, but Jiricek has what six more years of controllable years

Good argument that the NHLPA should heavily focus on lowering UFA age requirements.

I'd like to see a player expire RFA after their ELC, and then UFA every time after eventually.

That way we would have a lot young star players being UFA after four years....Kinda destroys team building
And will disagree that the NHLPA members would want it. The cap would stay the same but a select few players would benefit financially. The cap would even be more top heavy. The NHLPA members represent ALL the players. Most players would see their salary decrease as a result.

Everyone would benefit from more market freedom.
And players rarely move, team building would be fine - it just means there are consequences for repeated failure over a long period

I would sooner move Cowan and Minten. Knies has too much potential. He's the power forward this team has always needed. Give him time. Jiricek would be a huge add though, so long as he hits his potential, which I think is likely.

A right side next season of Liljegren, Jiricek and either Timmins or some FA. Could be very good. Fits the core 3's timeline as well.

The middle class has already been squeezed. The cap makes it a top heavy league.

I feel it would probs have to be Knies and Cowen maybe even more

Either way its a gamble. But could be a worthwhile one

Man funny enough one trade we praised then realized ah **** we could have drafted was the trade down that got us Niemela + Hirvonen

As 1 spot below the pick we could have did became Brock Faber

You may right. But the cap also makes the NHL team "socialistic" as it allows teams without revenue to stay in business.
No cap and maybe the NHL would only have 24 teams. That's 25% of the NHLPA without NHL salaries. Lots of middling and "poorer" NHLers (who comprise the majority of NHLPA members like the cap, and revenue sharing and spending constraints by the heavy revenue teams as it allows them to have NHL jobs.

If the Leafs want to address their blue line in a big way, they should 1000% draft Aaron Kiviharju this year (assuming he slips that far). He would be such a game changer on defense and would completely change the dynamic. He's got future #1 written all over him and there is a genuine possibility he slips due to the illness that kept him out of the WJC as well as his smaller frame. He's easily my #1 most wanted prospect

Yea but they should rn not be looking for future number one they should be going for right now fixes/additions

Like its nice to look at who could but we should be looking at who rn not in maybe 2-3 years or more.

Would rather just spend the first this year on an RFA or Dman with term who can come make an impact now like Van did with Hronek or OTT did with Chycrun. As this team dont got a long window (5 years realistically) dont got time to wait

Maybe its Jireck, maybe its Chycrun, maybe someone nobody is expecting but yea would say make a move now to shore up the top 4 going into next season.

So apparently the Canucks are thinking about moving zadorov for cap space.

Which is very funny given all the discourse around him before he got traded, and the fact that he was only now just moved.

I'd take him for a depth pick at this point. Don't know if I'd sign him after but 20 games for a 5th would be fine

I have some sneaking feeling its gonna be Kuzmenko for some cheaper but worse wing

As man Tochett just dont like him

But if Zadorov is available thats a nice third pair option

Cause if we look at Van they probs gonna want Zadorov going into the playoffs as hes the type of guy u want on that blue line. Plus hes been pretty good in Van.

With Kuzmenko being on Tochetts bad side for what feels like forever got a feeling he gets moved

My best guess rn is at the TDL they go

2024 2nd + Kuzmenko for Tanev

Hughes-Tanev
Soucy-Hronek
Zadorov-Cole

Extra: Myers

I know Friedman said they could to look out cap and named Kuzmenko and Zadorov as examples but I think lets be real its gonna be Kuzmenko

Agent came out later and basically almost implied the same to where he went no to Zadorov

https://twitter.com/DhaliwalSports/status/1752065729934008375

But notice he didnt say Kuzmenko lul

Honestly I wonder with the emergence of Kaedan Korczak in VGK would they consider moving Whitecloud

This is someone I have watched for a while and see potential

Also on a pretty nice contract

Sammy O doesn't come with the same "Random2152 guarantee of value" that Cowen did, but I do think he is a guy we should pay attention to in the mid to later rounds of the draft

Not likely. I've seen him as high as the 2nd. I'd take him in the 3rd or ideally the 4th
