Feels like a massive overpayment for Kuch, I don't think a single player in NHL history gets that haul outside from prime Wayne

          As good as Kucherov is

4 years of Kucherov at 9.5 mill likely provides less value than 2 years of Hughes at 1 mill+4 years of RFA control alone

Do you realize the GM of Tampa Bay said he’s not trading Stamkos?

I would disagree with that. This is an overpay for basically any player but Kucherov definitely has significantly higher trade value than Hughes. He's at worst a top 5 player in the league, and with the contracts being thrown around these days getting that for less than 10M per year is incredible. I don't think he really fits New Jersey's timeline though and am certainly not suggesting New Jersey would or should do this trade

          My (projected) valuation of Kucherov:

          15 million
          15 million
          14 million
          12 million
          Total Value: 56 million
          Total Cost: 38 million
          Surplus value: 18 million

          Hughes (projected) valuation
          5 million
          8 million
          10 million
          11 million
          11.5 million
          12 million

-assuming just a 4 year deal x 6 million to walk him to UFA (he likely gets even more of a steal contract on an 8 year deal that he almost certainly signs)

          Total Value: 57.5 million
          Total cost: 26 million
          Surplus Value: 31.5 million

The value of stud ELCs is difficult to beat.

thats a really optimistic evaluation for hughes, I think he is going to be a very good defeseman but that is like rivaling makar level evaluations. Also hughes will probably get like a 8 x 8 contract

I have Makar valued at 16-17 million right now. It’s more like a Roman Josi/Dougie Hamilton/Erik Karlsson last year valuation at his peak.

I expect Hughes to get an 8x8 too (which imo adds to his value even more) but since TECHNICALLY we only control his rights for 2 ELC years+4 RFA years that’s what I used

I would have makar at 14, kuch at 14, mackinnon at 15, and mcdavid at 16. I am sure that hughes will be a very good player but there is uncertainty in every prospect/rookie so in terms of trade value a L.Hughes for Kucherov right now isnt close imo but I tend to value experience. In the same vain the best player that I would trade for bedard would be like a marner or equivalent player

As a 20 year old rookie Defenseman he's been playing 20 minutes a game and recently 26+ and he's pacing for 16 goals and 50 pts and hes only been getting more playing time and getting visibly better so he could go higher. He's gonna be phenomenal

And I think I value cheap contracts and team control lot more than you.

I have Bedard as probably a top 3 most valuable asset in hockey right now.

McDavid 1 (simply just a tier above every other player in the league)
Jack Hughes 2 (8 mill for 7 years)
Bedard 3 (stud already with 3 years of ELC, but his second contract is going to be pricey despite the control, limiting his value a touch)
