I'm honestly sick and tired of seeing Guentzel trades. The Pens are only a couple points out of a wild card spot with at least one game in hand over everyone above them in the East. They're still in the playoff race and Dubas hasn't talked to anyone about a Jake trade. As of right now, he's not available.

Swap out Timmins with Liljegren, add a 2nd going to Pittsburgh, and Ruhwedel going to Toronto. But Guentzel isn’t available in real life.

While a agree with you that the Pens aren't likely sellers (at this time), isn't it a bit of stretch that you that Dubas hasn't talked to other GMs about a Jake trade? GMs talk all the time about players and their trade values in case they want to pull the trigger later.

Yeah, the Pens are trending to being the WC fight until the end, so it's unlikely (barring major long-term injuries) that Jake will become available, but I like this deal if he did get moved.

Oh no.....NEVER believe what a player/coach/GM says in public. It's for public consumption and not necessarily factual at all.
Of course Dubas isn't going to say, "We've had trade talks regarding Jake" is he? GMs, coaches, players just don't throw their teams "under the bus."
How often does a GM talk at a press conference. "I like our group here, they won't be changes", then a week latter major trades. Or saying, "There isn't going to be a coaching change", Next week the coach is fired." Or an upcoming UFA says, "I want to stay here long term", but bolts at his first change as a UFA.

They have been very open regarding the situation. You just don't want to believe it.

If you've decided that Dubas is an untrustworthy liar, that's your prerogative. But Dubas is the best source we have on what Dubas is currently planning. If Guentzel ends up being traded, it is completely realistic that trade talks can begin between now and the trade deadline in about a month and a half. As of right now, I have no reason to think we're hearing offers for Jake.

I'm saying GMs have an obligation to their teams, not to the media or the fans. GMs don't show their cards in public. Has nothing to do with being a liar.
Gee, if Dubas was asked about the 23 Pens individually, if there had been trade talks, for each individual he would say "No". It just isn't Jake.

If this was a serious offer for Guentzel and Pens will be on the edge of play-off, I'd take it anyway.
