Canucks pass. They’d probably consider Podkolzin for Barron, but Cole and a 1st for Monahan is an overpay

That Toronto one isn't serious, it cant be, I get that Minten isn't a big prospect but I doubt the give up one of their only ones for a bottom pairing D and a 4C. In terms of the other ones, they are pretty random ngl.

If you can't defend or win penalty or faceoffs your chances are lower to win, it's pure math, but you guys want a Harlem Globetrotter team, not a cup champion one ... wink !

A top 4 D on a cup contender and a 1st is an overpay for a middle 6 C. Not sure what’s laughable about that

Leafs need to win this season or next or to start retooling/rebuilding... this will cost sacrifice. Habs won't «give» players in a seller market TDL !!

Well, I guess you don't pay much attention to hockey then. Monahan brings more than the so-called middle 6 role. He's a true leader and offers offense when needed ... As powerplay is the best thing to upgrade for playoffs and faceoffs too MONAHAN is literally what teams are looking for. The winning team has puck control and offensive chances ... Monahan offers a better % in both options.

Monahan is not a 1st line player on the Canucks. He’s either a 2nd or 4th liner. He’s not a top 6 player for us, he’s a middle 6 (or bottom 6 if he ends up on the 4th line). He also more than likely wouldn’t play on our PP1 or our PK so he doesn’t provide as much special teams value as he does to MTL or potentially would to a different contender. Sure he helps on faceoffs but they typically aren’t very important (look at the Avs for example)

Pettersson - Monahan - Boeser
Suter - Miller - Garland
Mikheyev - Blueger - Kuzmenko
Hoglander - Joshua - Lafferty

Deeper lineup, more offense distribution, and more puck control. Add a balanced 200ft team and a better center distribution for faceoff win percentage. You can flip any center up or down for any matchup. Sure this team is not the fastest but skill/experience being balanced does help a team to progress.

The 3rd line of Joshua-Blueger-Garland won’t be broken up. It’s been one of the best lines in the league this season. It would either be

Lotto line
Kuzmenko-Monahan/Suter-Mikheyev
Joshua-Blueger-Garland
Hoglander-Suter/Monahan-Laffert

Or

Kuzmenko-Pettersson-Mikheyev
Monahan/Hoglander-Miller-Boeser
Joshua-Blueger-Garland
Monahan/Hoglander-Suter-Lafferty

If the Canucks don’t get Lindholm/Guentzel I could potentially see them targeting Monahan, but there are other options I’d rather target (Novak or Henrique for example). But if the cost is a 1st + Cole who’s our #3 dman then we will definitely move on to a different target. The most I’d consider offering is a 2nd and a lower tier prospect like a McDonough or Woo. But if a guy like Henrique or Novak are available for a similar or slightly higher price I’d rather target them

Cole is 3rd in TOI for us this season and has constantly played on the 2nd pair for most of the season, although the 2nd and 3rd pair do typically play very similar minutes. But he’s been a good veteran presence and it doesn’t make sense for us to move him

Their Top Pair averages 23-24 minutes
Their other two average 17-19 minutes

While MTL has has Struble playing well but playing 13-15 minutes
Same with Lindstrom and Xhekaj when they were here.

They Run a Undisputed Top Pair and Two Secondary Pairs
MTL run a tradition #1, 2 and 3 Pairing set up
For Match Ups VAN system works much better
They get Blown out less as teams cant just shutdown Matheson and blow out our team.
For VAN if you shut down top pair 1/2 other pairs step up and take advantage

Cole is a more Valuable David Savard in their system
Barron is seen more as a Prospect then an Upgrade for a team that's Contending

Take out Monahan and Cole if Podz is your focus.
Likely Barron and a 3rd will get you Podz as he seemingly gets worse the longer he's in VAN system
Really if i was Shopping Barron though i'd want Holloway or Holtz

Well every team not MTL passes. Interesting ideas but overpays across the board. MTL would need to be the only sellers on the market to get these values. Pazzetta valued at a 4th, yikes.

Wouldn’t doubt it. Every fan base has a few that will post wild trades both to blow up the team after a loss or to improve the team beyond the possible means. That where you and I have to use our knowledge to make more accurate deals

They (leafs) lack defensive acumen and need to win more faceoffs, they also upgrade their PK. Evans is a hell of a pker and checker, Kovacevic is a great 6-7th def that can clip guys on the wall and retrieve the puck. If you want to upgrade puck possession time you need those kinds of player.
