Will be terrible if that’s all Tarasenko can get. Would rather extend him . Either get a 1st this year or extend him.

Oh, some worthless garbage all for the pleasure of helping the Rangers with their cap crunch. How nice of you!

If a team wants him double retained I could see a 3rd or 4th to get that double retention and a 1st going to ottawa

Yeah, at a minimum. But also, AZ charged a 3rd last year to retain less than half ass much salary on Kane. If I'm any team being asked to do third party retention, I am using that as a comp for negotiations.

This isn't logical. NTC Tarasenko might tell the Sens, I only except a trade to Rangers, so what leverage do the Sens have in trade negotiations? Not much if he one or few team he would be willing to be traded to. Also Sens have no hold on him as a UFA., certainly an extension isn't guaranteed.

Yeah I don’t get how they think they control him after his contract expires, he’s a UFA this summer. They can hold onto him if the price isn’t right, but all bets are off in the off-season.

Just to add. Thirty two year old Tarasenko just might not agree to ANY trade. Must want to just rest for a few months before UFA starts. Why risk injury and really what does he has to show to other teams?

The Sens don’t need to tell the rangers in that case that he’s the only team he’d waive to. Sens will get calls and offers for him and then tell Tarasenko about the highest offers

But Tarasenko still can certainly limit the number of teams he will be traded to. What does the highest (trade) offer have to do with anything. Doesn't matter if the Canucks offer a first, and Tarasenko says he refuses to go a the Canucks. And no team except maybe the Sens would be offering him a contract for next season.
