As a Sabres fan,
I apologize for that total dog$h!t offer for Schneider
It’s absurd

In reality though, with him essentially being stuck behind Fox & Trouba, do u think u guys would consider moving him at all ?

The Avs would LOVE to turn Johansen into Mitts and would do a deal surrounding them in a heartbeat
Sabres would have absolutely ZERO INTEREST in a trade like this though, so it won’t happen

I'm not suggesting that Buffalo would for a moment, in fact they'd be foolish to, but as an Avs fan I tend to come at it from the Avs side and this is a dumb move for them too.

@Sabres262 must have multiple personality disorder,
bc the Avs trade is HIDEOUS for us, and the NyR trade is LAUGHABLE for them

So I fully believe that he needs a few more years to go top 4. And Trouba is there for that time. Then I’m expecting Trouba to resign a much cheaper deal with term(3.5M) to stay in NY with his wife’s career there. This opens the cap space and step for Schneider to take the jump to top 4 and have a bigger role. But he likely won’t be more than a 6M D man the numbers will work out

Your reasoning is that the Avs can’t pay Mitts,
but taking Johansen off their hands opens up plenty of Cap space to pay him
How on earth would u guys NOT wanna do that???

So basically, u expect Schneider & Trouba to swap roles in a few years….
Ok then, guess we’ll keep looking

No it doesn't. You seem to forget that's LTIR money. Once Landy is back next year how do they re-sign him? Trade out half the D corps is the usual answer. Makes no sense. Plain dumb. If Mitts signs at 5 mil (unlikely) the Avs have exactly $1,625,000 to sign a full fourth line, a back up goalie and 3 healthy scratches.

Aren’t u just gonna have that problem with Johansen still signed for next year then??

It will be a problem that needs to be addressed and realistically they need to move him whatever happens as it's a gamble that hasn't paid off. Part of why they're better off if they can move him now rather than waiting until they're over a barrel cap-wise next year. If he'd worked out then maybe you could justify running with a short roster.

All of it IS of course under the assumption that Landy returns. Either way I'd prefer them to move RyJo and make full use of the 7 mil if that were the case.

Ya that’s at least what I believe is going to happen. Now if Schneider turns into and absolute juggernaut in the next 12 months we may need to have the “who’s leaving” chat 😂.

It’s in every fan base. Just look at how leafs talk about Minten. He’s their top prospect so he must be worth a couple of firsts or Senko double retained. When Samuelsson signed that deal BUF fans said he was untouchable and that it might be the best contract in hockey. NYR fans thought Kravs would be relevant for years to come(to remind you who he is, a guy that NYR drafted 9OA when scouting reports had him around the 100OA mark. Now on the missing persons list 😂. But what I can tell you is that Drury hasn’t been willing to move a handful of the kids(not including Chytil) and also hasn’t been willing to part with 1st round picks with the exception of conditions on a deep run to get the young team some experience, and the other was in a scenario when they had multiple 1sts so he kept the better of the 2. Kakko, Laffy, KAM, Schneider, Othmann, Gabe and the next 2 1sts are likely all completely off the table unless what was coming back in return was something that 31 teams were all in on.

Schneider is a 22 year old playing behind Fox and Trouba on the right side.
Calling him a 14 min dman is not a fair shake, it's situational.

in less than 2 season he will side into the top 4 behind Fox.

there isn't a person in the NHL that is untouchable for the right price, but a 2nd and 3rd two years from now doesn't even come close to cutting it.
start with Quinn or JJ and go from there...

Not sure if you noticed, I didn't catch it at first, Johansens cap hit is only 4m next year, Nashville retained half. Not that anybody is clamoring for a 4m underperforming player, but it's way better than trying to move that player at 8m.
