Description

Three way trade with Carolina and Vancouver to move two high cost struggling players to playoff teams that need cap space to add this year. Buffalo uses retention to get two high quality RHD prospects.
Calgary moves Andersson before not trade protection kicks in and fully rebuilding. They bring in a younger D that likely plays better in the West and signed long term without trade protection, a young former first round pick center with some value left, and a high 2nd round pick.

Kulich and Rosen rotate in the top 9 until someone steals a spot, or they both play with an injury.

Seems light for a bona fide number 1 D like Andersson. He's cost controlled for the next 2 years as well at 4.55.
If Calgary rebuilds fully or "re-tools", he also fits the long-term outlook because he's 27. Veteran presence to keep around to lead the team in the next iteration, so it would be even tougher to pry him away, which is the sentiment I've heard from a number of Flames pundits and fans alike

Orlov is the major piece. 2 years at 3.875 for a top 4 D, to pair with Zadorov. Olofsson just fills kuzmenko’s spot and expires at year end

Canes pass. There's nothing there worth Morrow, no need to give up Orlov too.

EJ is just not very good any more, and Kuzmenko isn't of interest to the canes. Wouldn't move Morrow for either piece, let alone a roster player.

Orlov has found his game, and the Canes are incredibly unlikely to move Morrow. Nothing in that package really justifies moving either at this point in time.
