And jiricek was the 6th pick and outplayed his draft spot. He’s a top 3 defenseman prospect in the league lol. Jackets will trade you a first for dahlin since it should be top 10 as well

Yes and jiricek is one of the best prospects in the league. Why would the jackets trade for a draft pick that is less likely to hit? Would you trade benson for the 13th pick this year? Or kulich for the 28th pick?

lol neither statement is true. Mintyukov was taken after him and has played much better. Nemec is also better. Mintyukov, hughes, faber even kesserling.

Jiricek has good upside but this idea that hes outplayed his draft status is a stretch.

And comparing him to dahlin is ad absurdum lol

Neither benson nor kulich have complained about their playing time. I assume the premise of this trade is jiricek asking out. Otherwise why trade him, as you said.

Jackets aren’t trading jiricek though and if he did every team in the league would offer a package for him

Yeah if I had a dollar for every fan base that said this id buy the Sabres lol. If a players asks to be traded the league artificially drives the price down cause they know they can wait out for leverage. Every notable player thats asked out ends up going for 75 cents on the dollar.

The only way Jiricek gets traded is if he requests it. In that scenario hes going for less. Otherwise he's not getting traded.

No, but 13th and 28th picks are a lot different than a possible Top 5. And this was made because it doesn't sound like he was very happy about being sent down.

Even if Jiricek requested a trade, Jarmo would laugh in his face. Then hopefully get fired. Then Jiricek could request a trade to the next GM and get laughed at again.

He's too important based on organizational need to move.

Kulich is for sure untouchable but a package containing Savoie is something I would be open to. I would hate to lose Savoie but we are currently severely top heavy on the depth charts and a top tier dman would be such a welcome blessing.

That being said, I can't believe it would be Savoie AND a first. I agree the Sabres need add to the trade to make it work but Jiricek is not several tiers more skilled than Savoie and he has already expressed his displeasure in his current situation which would take a lot of air out of Columbus' leverage (somewhat offset by Buffalo's ridiculous prospect pool).

My offer would be Savoie, a second, and maybe another pick (3rd or later). If that doesn't get it done or at least close, then it isn't worth it to keep negotiating.

I agree with what you are saying, but RD are hard to come by, especially one's with his potential so it raises the price.

Absolutely, the price should absolutely go up. It shouldn't get doubled though. I feel like people are forgetting that Savoie is going to be a top 6 forward. We aren't trading a pittance here. If the price is Savoie and a first, CBJ can take a hike.

Sabres are gonna have a hard time fitting all there prospects as is, especially if the extend Mitts. Your getting a piece that can play right know for you. Is it a overpayment, Probably but it doesn't hurt the Sabres either.

Honestly, even if it does cost a first, a monumental cost imo, it would still be a net gain for us. Our defense is a bloody sieve. So even though it would be more than I would want to send, yeah, I think I would do it. In fact... I think that feeling proves it's a good deal. Getting something we want for something we don't want to give up? Yeah, that's fair. Alright, you convinced me lol (thought process in real time)

I don't want to give him up either, but Ostlund is about 2yrs away so it lessons the blow. Never happen but we need help at RD and Adams has the assets to go and get someone. There's some good D in this draft, that Dickinson kid even though he's a LD is something. But we need D for the know to. Adams really should have started this process in the offseason, Johnson and Clifton are just sh!tty bandaids.
