So Allen is at best a marginal upgrade. Raanta has played very well since coming back from the Wolves. Kochetkov has played very well after a slow start. Martin was amazing in his win over the Bruins. And Freddie doesn’t have a comparable sample size for this season. The Habs are going to have to find a different team to top off since the Canes goalies are playing as well as they are right now.

You should probably focus more on getting a better 2C than goaltending.

Tell him that. I’m just a man trynna send him where he’d be an upgrade.

I think he is still a bit butt hurt that we OS Aho and they did the same to KK and now are regretting that decision. MB really conned Waddell there didn't he LMAO, I wanted KK to stay but looking at how invisible he is on almost every shift, I am sort of glad we didn't give him 4+ mil.

So, not Carolina? Try Edmonton, they like recycled bad goalies

I think Allen to CAR makes sense. I haven’t had any constructive feedback from a Hurricanes’ fan whose opinion I value.

I mean we can just move Jarvis to center to solve that particular problem... and we have more than enough winger depth to make that work

Can Jarvis play center effectively?

He hasn't really played center but he has all the tools you need to be an effective center (great playmaker, great defensively, very good vision) ... It's at least worth a try before you go outside the organization

Aww, you don't watch him, you just look at counting stats and don't understand that he is among the best in the NHL for his defense? That's adorable.

The canes can’t make a trade for a goalie with term until they know what in the world is going on with Freddie. I also think Pyotr & Raanta have much better numbers over the past 6-8 weeks. How Pyotr looks after the break now that he’s healthy will determine what they do at the TDL.

Allen to the Canes does make sense, especially if you are retaining. I’m just not convinced he’s the goalie they go after.

FYI, I think quite a few of us canes fans have the person you are quoting on the ignore list for a reason…

Issue here is there are like 12-15 teams who want a 2C, and there are only like 1-2 of them available.

I've said it before, and I don't know if you really value my opinion, but Allen's second year makes trading for him tough for the Canes. Kochetkov loses his waiver exempt status, and unless Freddie is done for good, those two will be the rostered goalies next season, which would mean burying Allen in the AHL, which costs ~750k in cap space. If another team retains on Allen then I could see the Canes making this trade, although Allen and the Canes goalies have sort of trended in opposite directions since the start of the season (Allen started on a heater and the canes goalies stunk, both are more trending towards the mean now).

I'd be fine if a goaltending upgrade for like a third string goalie... I'm not super sold on Martin and Perets isn't an option at this point but that upgrade needs to be

1. On a expiring contract
2. Have a contract below the burying threshold
3. Not be that expensive to acquire

and preferable be waivers exempt

Like Allen wouldn't be a problem if he was either waivers exempt or his contract was below the burying threshold

Defense is difficult for everyday folks to understand. There's a reason why it's only this team that routinely holds teams to under 4 shots in a period LMAO! The roster construction is all elite defensemen and defensive centermen.

But only 18 points! He'd only be 5th on the Canadiens in scoring!
