Jiricek is a super interesting idea for the Sabres
But i wonder if CBj would really move him?
We might have to give them an offer too good to refuse

That offer makes about as much sense for Columbus as them offering Werenski for Thompson

Just saw an interesting question on another site. Jiricek is unhappy in Columbus, not getting pp1 time, and not liking how Columbus is developing him (ie. Sending to ahl). The question is- if Buffalo has dahlin, what does the pp1 look like, and do you have to try to keep jiricek happy? The obvious thing would be to have both dahlin and jiricek on pp1, I guess. I got the sense that Columbus fans want cozens or power, no interest in mittelstadt. Fwiw, we are likely in a position where we could draft jiriceks brother this year.

Edit, scratch the last part, his brother sounds like more of a puck mover, missing the aggressive game of his older brother. Might not be a bad pick depending on what's on the board, strictly from a value perspective, higher end right shot d will have value regardless if we wanna trade him. I'm ready to go a different way though.

Well the Sabres certainly wouldn’t give up Power or Cozens
Probably not even Mitts

Idc what the CBj FANS on here would want,
I care about what a deal in real life might look like

As far as having to appease Jiricek, idk why to think about that?
Our PP hasn’t been good at all, so it wouldn’t hurt to at least try him out on the 1st unit & see how it goes

Let’s say, that for whatever reason it doesn’t work out
He still young with a TON of talent- & trade value
So i bet we could move him for a more defensively oriented guy- Carlo? Schneider? Etc, etc….

Sabres have other assets they would move. Benson right now > Jiricek right now even factoring in all of the intangibles

You should be very high on Benson and be thrilled he fell to you, but this is silly. A small wing who's not Patrick Kane level will never > a large RD who's good on both sides of the ice. That's not a knock on Benson at all.

Debrincat got traded for Kevin Korchinski. And he's 3 inches smaller than Benson. Benson is not as small as people assume. He might even grow another inch and he'd be average height

Debrincat got traded for the seventh overall pick that turned into Korchinski. And Ottawa very much should not have done that.

Here's the article that explains the situation in full: Jiricek frustrated with AHL demotion

He's got a right to be frustrated, management has completely bungled his year and deserve to be fired for many other things as well. He's gotten essentially no PP time...or NHL ice time...or AHL ice time, because he always gets called up and scratched. Dude just needs to play.
