Petey is untouchable and he will sign an extension with the Canucks.

If you wanted a chance at Pettersson you’d have to include at least one of Jiricek/Fantilli/2024 unprotected 1st + other premium assets (Johnson/Sillinger come to mind)

A protected 1st, borderline cap dump, bottom pair dman, and meh prospect isn’t close to enough

Literally every single fan base on here says every player is untouchable. Remember, this isn't real. Go touch grass. Have a little fun.

Also, Pettersson is absolutely touchable.

If a guy doesn't want to be there, you don't really have a choice.

Petey wants to sign with a contender that will pay him what he's worth (e.g. Vancouver) not for Columbus.

Also, this package isn't it. Probably starts with Johnson and/or Jiricek for a 25 y/o Top-10 C. Doubt the Canucks have any interest in Laine.

The only thing you're wrong about here is Laine being a borderline cap dump...and that's not too far off. Fantilli + 1st + ??? would be a start, but considering Fantilli should be a 1C sooner rather than later, CBJ would be better off keeping him. Pettersson will be a Canuck for life, so not really worth discussing even in fantasy land.

Pettersson is as close to actually untouchable as it gets, but yeah it's still fun to dream about him being a Jacket.

Yeah Columbus should definitely keep Fantilli, he’s gonna be a stud for a long time. But in a hypothetical Pettersson trade I imagine the Canucks start by asking for him. Realistically it won’t happen though

1) If Pettersson doesn’t want to be in Vancouver, what would make him want to be in Columbus?

2) Even if he asks for a trade (unlikely), 30 other teams beat this offer for him

FWIW from a CBJ fan: 1) Agreed, and 2) Agreed.

If Pettersson wanted out it would start with Jiricek and your 2024 first. If you don't want to pay that then that's tough and VAN would call 30 other teams that would offer more then this.

Canucks easily decline. Pettersson is as untouchable as they come. If for whatever reason Vancouver did move them, that offer easily gets beat by 30 other teams in the league. Have to think the price would start with Fantilli++, at which point it's probably better for Columbus to just keep their assets as the amount they'd be giving up would be an absurd overpay by the time they'd added enough to Fantilli to convince Vancouver to move Pettersson.

You could have the #1 overall pick for the next 5 years in a row and still not obtain a player of Pettersson's quality.
