wtf is that Byram trade, kid is worth at least 2 1st rd picks not a collection of bottom 6ers retreads and secondary picks and then massively overpaying for Mittlestadt. You do mix it up I’ll give you that but that Byram trade is one of the worst that I’ve seen, they literally turned down a recent top 6 pick for Byram, try convincing somebody to trade that package for a top 6 pick.

IKR? The Avs can't afford Mitts even with a "bridge" as suggested; what would that even look like? $6Mx3? I don't think the Sabres and Avs are good trading partners right now.

Aww, come on, man! The Avs are getting a season and a quarter of Nic Dowd and a late 2nd! Throw in 'ole Bender Aube-Kubel and that's a steal right there!

Sabres get picks while getting a RHD. Everyone keeps trading byram to Philly or Sabres which they don't need lol

Where'd the rhd? All I see is a small left handed dman, a cap dump, and a center they don't need. Late firsts mean nothing to the Sabres

The avs could afford mittelstadt with a bridge deal. With cap going up and byram ryjo gone

Annunen backups Georgiev next season and caleb jones resigns and takes Johnsons spot.

I would love Middlestadt but he doesn't work long term for the Avs.

We need a solve for 2C for this season and next only - Ritchie is available following that, will be on a ELC which we will NEED as we'll need to extend Mikko that season. Ritchie and Colton solve the 2C/3C long term.

Who knows how far out Ritchie is. You can still get mittelstadt and slide him to wing. They can always do a bridge deal till Ritchie is ready.

They've already spent most of the cap rise on Toews. Not sure they like Jones enough to re-sign him and they have an entire 4th line to build. They just can't afford it. I've run a lot of scenarios and, unless they shed several good roster players, they can't afford Mitts or Lindy or anyone that makes more than about $3M and then they'd have to fill those spots.

Needs to be realistic: the Avs aren't trading off two roster D and we have no idea if Landy will be back but it's safe to assume that, at least at the start of the season, he'll give it a go so he'll count.

ritchie is exactly 1.5 years out. he is tearing up juniors, he is 1000% a steal, should have been top 15 pick if not for injury. The Avs are banking on him in 2025-26.

You aren’t sending us a RH defenseman in your proposal
And we wouldn’t even consider taking “futures” for Mitts

We’d want a guy who is a good Top4 defenseman right NOW
He’d have to be a defense first guy, & playing with some physicality would be a big bonus
He’s also gotta be young enough to fit our timeline,
but not so young that he’s still inconsistent

Think Josh Manson….. but the 5 years ago version

You don't? Alex Newhook, 1st and 2nd? Still don't think the Avs would get two firsts for him?

As I understand it, he has contractual obligations to the OHL so he probably won't be in until 2025-2026

A young cost-controlled D that played top 5v5 minutes in a SCF and has top-pair potential? You bet he's worth two 1st or a 1st and an A prospect or roster player.

I don't think there's any OHL contractual obligations if your NHL team signs you up. The only thing with Ritchie is it would have to be NHL or OHL due to his age, can't be sent to the AHL. I'm guessing that's what you were referring to?

You seriously don’t? They rejected a trade for Gauthier a recent top 7 pick, Newhook isn’t nearly as good returned a 1st and 2nd, Byram is easy worth 2 1st, team control for 5 years no arb rights, the fact you don’t probably means you need to adjust your value chart. Top 6 C and top 4 pt producing dmen that are under team control for half a decade are worth so damn much. I mean ffs look at what a guy like Chiarot got as a rental a 1st, 3rd and b level prospect. People get hung up on something’s like Girard’s size and want to ignore that the dude can just play, GM’s saw first hand in the cup finals what Byram has to offer, and he has more to offer because he can qb the power play but won’t ever in COL.
