Pittsburgh doesn't want your garbage for Jake Guentzel, And with his 12 team no trade list i doubt he even waives for Edmonton.

Realistically, Jake isn't going anywhere, but as far as Jake offers go, there's something to this one at least. I'm not sure how I feel about Broberg; he looks to be a bust territory, but I don't think we're far off here.

I think if you swapped out Broberg for a different prospect we're getting close.

It's similar to what Lindholm fetched, that's what I was referencing for this trade. Except the conditional 4th upgraded to a 2nd to make up for the gap. Probably Bourgault over Savoie if Pens want a better offer or something.

Yeah, the bigger issue here is prospect quality. Also, Jake will get more than Lindholm which you did attempt to do here, but if another team offers a 1st, 2nd + top prospect you possibly get beaten out.

I mean, a 1st + 2nd + Prospect is probably close to what Jake would get. I think the other possibility is a good young player currently playing instead of a prospect. The issue for EDM is their prospect pool is pretty awful and teams probably offer better futures.

Broberg isn't a bust at all. He's not the 8th overall pick that he was made out to be for sure, but not a bust. The Oilers just haven't utilized him/given him the chance by playing him as a 7th D with only 8 mins every night. Currently cooking the AHL. There's still a top 4 D there, just not on the Oilers and he has much better upside than Hunter Brus-something which is who I compared to in the Lindholm trade because that trade kind of sets the market for players like Guentzel. If that isn't enough, I guess we'd have to throw in Bourgault over Savoie.

Yeah thats the problem. Our prospects are having a rough first years in the AHL after ripping up their respective junior teams. But yeah, if it comes to a prospect-off, we're not winning the bidding war.

Broberg is a bust and Janmark and Savoie have next to no value. Other teams would offer far better value then this.

No, I agree. I'm just saying the parts of a Guentzel deal resemble this, but yeah, they don't have the quality prospects to do this.

It literally does lol. He's a heavy shutdown dman that's also a veteran. Capable of playing in top 4. You don't think that young Sabres D core needs someone like that? Well, good luck that D core then because it ain't looking so great.

He isn't. he still has that potential and still an elite skater, otherwise teams aren't calling Holland for him. If you give me reasons how he's a bust other than "Idk, he just looks like one", maybe I'll believe you

Dahlin plays his on right side, Jokiharju will get resigned and they are stuck with Clifton for another 2 years no room.

So the Sabres D core doesn't need a heavy veteran Dman and they're satisfied with keeping the D core the way it is after this season's performance? Idk about that

Guentzel has griped about not wanting to go through a rebuild/retool. Which means he wants to win. He'll absolutely waive for any contending team.

Ceci has the lowest corsi for and the highest 5v5 xGA/60 of ALL OILER dmen.
Buffalo does not need a defender worse than Cliffton who does hit as often as Conner.
Buffalo passes, please look for another team on which to dump him.

Ceci is having a down year, yet he still has a better on-ice shot attempts against than per 60 than Clifton, Dahliin, Power, and Johnson. The same xGA as Power and better than Clifton and Johnson. Nonetheless, Ceci would be a better partner for Power than Jokharju is. But if you really believe he isn't, then that's fine. Agree to disagree.

@HockeyGawd
Thinking u know what’s better for the Sabres than their fans is pretty ridiculous- but then again, you call yourself a “Gawd” so i guess that’s pretty on brand
Fact is: Ceci just isn’t that good
And even if u can argue that he’s better than what we have on the right side currently (he’s really not, but anyways…),
He most certainly isn’t so good that we are gonna want to ship out Jokiharju- who we have spent years developing & is playing pretty good hockey, while building chemistry with Power
Or dumping Clifton, who we just signed to a 3 year deal, and also playing decently well for us

Now if it was for a guy that’s a big time improvement,
say Carlo for example, then it would make more sense

But for a modest upgrade- AT MOST- it just doesn’t make sense
And especially not for a 3rd

If u think so highly of Ceci, then maybe u should just keep him?
Bc it’s pretty unlikely the Sabres would be persuaded to want him- especially not (in YOUR OWN WORDS) when he’s having a “down year”

Sorry guy

He's a big shut down dman playing top four minutes that can't shut down anything. He's awful at defending. No he's not having a down year, he just isn't good.
