I'm not sure how Kuzntezov is even a viable trading chip right now since he's in the player's assistance program. Also, off the top of my head, I don't think the Rangers can afford that cap hit.

Chytil is on LTIR and washington already retained half. NYR have ~5m in cap space by deadline.

edit:
NYR can actually afford both Kuz & Tarasenko at 50% each if they send down or trade Goodrow, Pitlick and Leschyshyn rn.

Kuznetsov won't even be playing next year. He's basically done.

That trade is a royal joke for Kaprizov not even close to getting him out of Minnesota.

Except this trade proposal is without the retention. So how do you make it work then? Hence the question.

Glut of LHD in the league. Limited trade partners. Big contract. I don't mind if the value is off but I wouldn't expect a significant return. That said, those are some needs for the Sens.

The trade between Ottawa and Washington has 3.9m retained. So NYR would be obtaining Kuzy at 3.9m, not 7.8m.

Honestly. You feel differently so I respect that. But for me personally, that is still a pass.

It's not ideal by any means no. I just believe that it beats paying a 1st+ for Henrique, Jenner, or any other center NYR have been tied to. Especially since kuzy has the extra year it's extra insurance for us at 3c (just in case Chytil's career is over due to concussions).

Oh I'm on board with that line of think entirely 👍

Sorry but I'm lost on this take.

Three first round picks, a very recent lottery pick and what will be a very early 2nd. That feels like an abundance of quality.

Maybe the desire would be a good roster player vs so many futures?

If no interest in Brannstrom, that's fine but still an abundance of quality imho.

Tyler Boucher and 2 late 1sts is not an abundance of quality.

The 2024 OTT 1st is a great start, take the rest out and add another good young top 4 D option or top 6 F.

It should look something like OTT 1st+BOS 1st+Good young Top 6F/Top 4D

Man, I gotta say that's tough. Maybe swap a late for a future first from Ottawa vs Edmonton or Boston.

But, fair enough on the want for good player in return instead of so many futures. Figured a boat load of futures might be ideal for Minnesota coming off the buyouts.

Minnesota's pretty much through the buyouts at this point. The time for futures was a couple years ago. Now the only way they trade Kaprizov is if he decides he won't re-sign. Minnesota needs young, NHL ready players to grow with the rest of the core- Boldy, Rossi, Faber, Yurov, Wallstedt, etc.

These things so much easier said than done and I'm not sure why you're suggesting Tarasenko to the Rangers. Why on earth would they want to trade more futures for a guy who was mediocre for them last season when they could have signed him?

Not sure they could afford him hence Wheeler. Though I'm sure they wish it were Tank lol

I agree. I think this type of return makes sense if BG has been told Kaprizov wants to move on from Minnesota. If this type of trade landed us the number 1 pick and we were picking say, 3rd overall for our own pick, I could see that making sense. We get Celebrini and Eiserman with an exciting future. But the trade right now doesn't make sense. I don't think you were far off in terms of value. It's a super star that is happy at the moment in a state where we haven't had super stars. Fans will get touchy on this type of move. But I think it's pretty fair and realistic. Also, his NTC starts this summer.

He had 21 points in 31 games in GG's line jumble, and was one of the few producing players in the playoffs. They wanted to resign him but could not afford him.
