Hamilton Returns for Playoffs

Created by: YeahDudeitsChris
Team: 2023-24 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 6, 2024
Published: Feb. 6, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Dougie returns for playoffs (They won't be over the cap (-3.2 mil) as long as he returns for the playoffs), Trades are all rough but are roughly the bones or ballpark of a trade.
Trades
1.
NSH
  1. Bastian, Nathan
  2. Casey, Seamus [Reserve List]
  3. 2024 1st round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
Needs a massage but these are the bones of the trade
2.
NJD
  1. Lowry, Adam
Additional Details:
IDK his price (or if they'd even entertain a trade) but he'd be the ideal target for NJ to fill out the bottom 6 and NJ should target somebody similar if they cannot be enticed to move him
WPG
  1. Stillman, Chase
  2. 2025 1st round pick (NJD)
3.
CGY
  1. Edwards, Ethan [Reserve List]
  2. 2024 3rd round pick (NJD)
  3. 2025 2nd round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
Edwards is a solid NHL bottom pairing prospect. Might peak as a second pair briefly but he is best on the 3rd pair
4.
SEA
  1. Hatakka, Santeri
  2. 2025 3rd round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
Tatar is probably pretty cheap considering he hasn't been great but I liked him in NJ and his PK usage and forecheck are missed by this team

is it even a good thing if he's back for the playoffs? Go watch old hurricanes playoff games and opposing teams would dump the puck in his corner every chance they got.

You'll have to look elsewhere for a shutdown center, as the Jets aren't going to trade their captain.

Yeah I don't think the team ahead of you in the standings is trading you their shutdown C, and captain 🤔

We are as close to the lottery as we are to the playoffs.
Winnipeg is legit contender.
Lowry is their captain.

I like the player, but think we are missing on the right target here.

Holy **** he’s your captain? Lmao yeah that’ll never happen, but the idea is what I was after anyway with him.. a big guy who can lead by example, provide physicality, positive xG, etc

He’s a top 10 defenseman in the league and Norris contender who provides close to a point a game when he’s healthy, so yeah they do want him back. His Defense also is also more than fine enough for top pair minutes

why do you think teams are so eager to get rid of him? why do you think carolina cut his minutes and when they got good deployed him as their 3rd d man?

the guy is incredibly flawed. nowhere near top 10. probably not top 30.

I doubt NSH is going to be willing to trade Askarov, even for a package that looks like this. He is NSH's future in goal and likely comes up to the NHL full-time in the next year or two along with other notable prospects in NSH's system.

That said, I'd be open to changing that name to Saros and then having that conversation. I know there are those who are not willing to trade Saros, but I'm open to hearing offers.
