they could sell bertuzzi and brodie with retention for draft picks and be better positioned for playoff hockey the way those guys are playing its pretty much burning money right now.

Bertuzzi is the exact same player he was last year. No reason he shouldn’t go for at least a 1st. Insane what Leafs media and their stupid fanbase can do to the overall perception of a player.

Leafs aren’t selling, anyways.

Might be a good idea to sell, though I doubt the Leafs management/ownership does it.
Come July 1, let's hope the Leafs spend the newfound cap money wisely....,but highly improbable isn't it?

Wi gs have no use for Brodie as they have 7 defensmen and no room for Brodie. Not saying he is a bad player but he would not be that much of a upgrade for top 4 right now.

Treliving should spend big on a couple of top 4 defencemen on opening day of free agency and then get some value picks ups a week later at the forward position. The core four have proven they can carry the offense for the most part. Under a new coach, with four true top 4 D men, this team will look a lot better.

Is he? Because he isn't producing like it... 1 goal in the last 28 games.

He had 8 goals in 50 games last season… hes been great in every part of his game but just hasn’t been able to finish. Those points will come. People just need to stop doing shallow analysis and start looking deeper.

He makes double the money and the league is more cap strapped.

Boston has a better player that is a pending FA in his salary slot, so I don’t think they’d be the team to trade for him

He's really always been a 55 point player at best. Bertuzzi has been invisible (in my eyes) this season. Buyer beware next summer when he's a UFA.

After 50% retention, Bertuzzi’s cap hit will be 2750000… just 300000 higher than it was last year. Not to mention the cap is higher this year than it was last year. Not saying the bruins would or should give up a first for Bertuzzi. But there’s this new narrative that because he’s a leaf he suddenly isn’t worth a 1st round pick anymore. The fact that this false narrative is being used/spread the most by our own fanbase is really telling of how spoiled and trash Leafs fans are.

Check the UFA list....sure there are some good UFA Dmen...but hardly any difference makers. Gee, I hope the Leafs "don't spend big", any poor GM can do that but "spend wisely". Most of the "name" Dmen are about 30 years of age, I won't want give these guys THAT much term.
Gio, Brodie, Klingberg gone. That's 9m. Benoit is deserving of a raise and Liljegren will get one. Might be two UFA 3.5m players Dmen that get done.

Don’t want. Don’t need. Don’t have the cap space.

Detroit retained of Bertuzzi, so it’s more than 1/2 less, but it yeah … he’s not worthless at all. He’s just not someone the Bruins should look to acquire. There is a difference

His production per game is also down about 10% from last year as well
