Then what do you do next season when you're stuck with the Gravedigger's contract and Sergy returns?

Bye bye Stamkos! 🙄

Interesting trade here. Probably short a good prospect or player imo. Maybe Jeannot?

Stamkos team friendly cap hit over 8 years until he is 43.

Pens decline don't think a 1st in 3 years gets in done but that's just me. If I'm trading guentzel I want to see the impact asap not a 1st in 3 years that will take 3-4 years to develop into something whichay not even be a 200 game player which is 7 years from now. Just doesn't make sense

No irony at all but the Graves contract might kill us with Stamkos now, and Hedman up next season. Tons of roles to fill too, so unless the ELC guys like Howard and Gauthier can immediately step it up in a big way, I've got a feeling a move like this might be a nail in the coffin beyond this season.

TBL would definitely have to find a place to move Graves in the off-season, but I think that should be possible on their end.

And for a chance to push again with a low buy on Jake?

As for the Pen's return, the "immediate improvement" piece in that trade for the Pens is actually all the cap space created by trading Graves.

Feel like that’s a better 1st for the pens, tampa has been on a decline so if that continues that’ll be a higher pick then it might be this or next year. And i think it lines up more with when the pens would “officially” be in more of a rebuilding mode.

This is not nearly enough coming back to PIT.
You are missing a blue chip prospect.
