Remove CHI's 2024 2nd round pick and they probably accept.

Absolutely. What is CHI trading up here? 10 spots... if that. And if the whole purpose of making a trade is for TOR to be better and go on a deep run, that means they are planning on making the ECF and hopfully the SCF... which means CHI would be trading up like 1 to 4 draft positions... Steeves isn't worth anything. Robertson isn't worth nearly as much as TOR fans seem to think. The biggest value coming to CHI is Minten and the 1st. Minten isn't worth nearly as much as TOR fans seem to think, and late 1st round picks aren't worth nearly as much as fans of playoff teams seem to think. Then you have a good Defensive minded top 4 dman on an affordable contract with term and 50% retentained plus a 2nd round pick. Quality > Quantity is what CHI wants. CHI adding their own 2024 2nd round pick severely diminishes the value of the trade.

Hawks aren't trading Murphy. And Hawks wouldn't accept that trade as proposed anyway.

I don’t think Chicago or Arizona accepts these proposals.

That package won't even come close to getting TOR a Norris contender. Especially not at $2.2M for 2.5 years.

Yeah. I got it. But your joke insinuates that this package could bring back a Norris contender, which it absolutely could not do. So your joke is based on a false equivalency. Also, we aren't overvaluing Murphy. His leadership, professionalism, and what he can teach our young players is worth more to our rebuild than a proposal like this would be. Add on top of that, the value of retention for 2.5 years and it isn't even close. Not to mention, he helps us get to the salary floor. CHI is perfectly content to keep him around and would only consider moving him for a package they can't refuse. This is not that, at all.

I think we accept this offer honestly. Maybe just swap it from our 2nd to the LA 2nd we have, but it's really not too bad. TOR fans over rate Minten and Robertson but they're still decent prospects i'd be willing to bring in. In a vaccume I really don't think Murphy is worth a 1st if we're being honest, with the retention sure he is but hes not worth a 1st+

Yeah I could maybe make an argument for making it a late 2nd, but definitely not CHI's 2nd. Herb was just being a schmuck from the start. So, I didn't even feel like going there.

I'm not high on Robertson at all. He's too small and plays a style that makes him susceptible to injury year after year. To me, Murphy with retention gets a late 1st + Minten or the Hawks don't make the trade. So no 2nd back to Toronto. I'd be ok with Murphy retained and the 4th for the Toronto 1st and Minten. Leafs can keep Robertson and Steeves. I'm not giving a up any of the 2nd's for those 2.

Yeah. I agree with you on all of this. I was just saying that I could understand an argument for making it a late 2nd, not that I necessarily agree with it.
