The Sabres don't need a goalie. That hasn't been their issue at all

Don’t see the Sabres being interested in Saros if that’s the price

We are VERY unlikely to trade Mitts

I just can’t. This is not the answer. I mean I could be wrong but the reason Mittlestadt is available is BUF doesn’t want to pay him, just saying.

NSH would rather have Mittlestadt than the package from COL, so they'd just work on a trade with BUF and not involve the Avs, in this scenario.

You guys are likely to trade Mitts. It's been clear via insiders that Mitts is pissed that Buffalo gave long-term contracts to all of their guys except for him and he's an RFA with arb rights that Buffalo can't afford now. If he's not going to Colorado, he's going somewhere...

How EXACTLY can the Sabres “not afford him” ?

It’s actually the Avs who can’t fit Mitts in under their Cap next year w him needing a new deal
Sabres have plenty of room

Here's your link and 32 Thoughts reference by Friedman: https://www.nhltraderumors.me/2024/02/insider-sabres-shopping-casey.html

It's more complicated for the Avs with affording him. If Landeskog's career is over and they can offload Johansen's contract, they can afford Middelstadt, but I didn't say he was for sure going to the Avs, I'm just telling you, he won't be in Buffalo after this season.

We’ll see
Pretty sure he’ll get a deal similar to Cozens & Tage
Something in the 7x7 range

So Elliotte Friedman, one of, if not the best insiders in hockey isn't a legit source? Thats where the article I posted derived from. Of course your GM isn't going to say they are openly shopping him. It would ruin his value if he did.

That being said, it seems like whatever they were "shopping" for seems like it may have dried up if the Sabres are backtracking on it now. Doesn't mean they weren't checking the market around though.

Blah blah blah
You GUARANTEED he wouldn’t be in the Sabres next year
Sorry, but you’re wrong
Deal with it

Mitts was NEVER being shopped
It was all made up BS from Andrew Peters,
just like he made up that we were signing Pat Kane

Haha whatever you want to say about Peter's, fine. Don't care about his rhetoric, but when Friedman says it on 32 Thoughts, it's been verified buddy. That guys extremely careful about the jargon that he brings into the hockey world. I said it was LIKELY, not guaranteed Mr. English Major. Guess we'll wait and see and you can keyboard warrior it up if he doesn't get traded and if he does, I hope you don't cry yourself to sleep at night.

U didn’t use the word “guarantee”
But you did FLAT OUT say he wouldn’t be here next year

And u greatly exaggerated what Friedman said,
bc he said NOTHING remotely close to that

You’re wrong
Deal with it

U were right, i was wrong

Situation changed though
Mitts turned down Sabres contract offers & supposedly hinted at least towards going to arbitration
(Local radio report)

Seems he priced himself out of Buffalo
But the initial reports of Buffalo shopping him for a goalie proved to be 100% false

Byram makes more sense for us, even though he’s a Lefty
I wonder if we try to flip him for a RH guy though??

Agreed, Byram showed a little more recently that he can play a little on the right side but prefers the left. You're getting a great future D-man either way though. You can flip him or keep him and have the best LD corps in the league long term lol .

Might even give Byram a chance to play w Dahlin & see how they mesh (Dahlin has been great on the right side as well as the left)
