Buffalo would have to offer a wealthy deal to Pesce to get him to waive. Is Adams game for that?

From a canes perspective, we could put drury in if we get EJ at 50% back. We can’t afford to lose depth.

No more paying players to play for other teams. We’re better off just keeping Rakell if trading him means we have to retain 1.5 million for that long. (Which wouldn’t be necessary). No thanks. Pens decline.

Carolina adds, Pesce has an NMC so if he waives for Buffalo after signing an extension then Buffalo could just wait until Free Agency and test their luck. Morrow after signing his elc makes more sense. Most players, when given the option, won't choose Buffalo at this point.

I think it's a nice offer to the Pens, but I just don't see them retaining long-term even if it isn't that much.

That said, personally? I'd make that deal. I think Drury is a nice pice to the bottom six(even though he's 2C for you right now). I just don't think it's something Dubas would do.

In a bubble it's really not a bad deal. Drury is intriguing to me and as the seasons move on from this point with the cap going up, it's such an insignificant hit, but yeah, there's no way Dubas will retain for that long of a period.

All depends on size of extension. Buffalo would be paying for player then can try to sign in 4 months without giving anything.

I see that Morrow has been making excellent progress at UMASS, but he's still a prospect, what would lead us to believe he'll end up being the top-4 d-man Buffalo wants and needs.

I heard pesce was having a rough year, is he still the player that we are looking for- especially since we are paying mittelstadt to get him in the door, and then probably forced to throw, essentially a ufa contract at him to get him to stay.

If Carolina fans are eager to move him over Morrow, then Morrow is the one we want

Pesce had a nagging injury early on and had lost a step because of it. Also his stats looked worse because our goalies were stopping much. His play and the play of the team has risen back to normal levels. Pesce has been his normal good self for a while now

With how overpaid Mitts will get in the offseason, it’s much wiser to keep Pesce and the roster together rather than bringing in someone who likely won’t be a great fit under Rod.

Pens should decline, this would be major problem when they decide to blow team up.

Not imo
Why should Buffalo pay for Pesce when he’s gonna be a free agent?
If he wants to come here (and we want him),
we could get him without giving up Mitts

I don’t think Pesce is a great target though

Agreed. So why use a player in Mitts, who's 25 yrs. old and has a good track record (a pretty damn solid one as of late) to acquire a prospect when almost all of them have question marks?

Not to diminish Pesce at all- of course he’s still a good player
But he’s gonna want a contract that goes till he’s in his late 30s
That just doesn’t make much sense for us

But if we were interested in him, and he wanted to come here,
it would seemingly make A LOT more sense to pursue him in free agency as opposed to trading for him

I just don’t see it as making ANY SENSE at all for the Sabres

Contract status, plethora of prospects in the same position, the potential they are selling high, the potential they have killed all of the good will Mitts had for the franchise

Mitts is a known quantity, prospects have question marks. Imo, trading a versatile, top-6 forward who's a known quantity for a question mark to be placed upon a pool of other question marks makes no sense.

But then again, this is the Buffalo Sabres so anything can happen.
