Oil PHI CBJ fans what yall think

Created by: Droakner
Team: 2023-24 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 14, 2024
Published: Feb. 14, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
EDM
  1. Boqvist, Adam
  2. Sillinger, Cole
Additional Details:
Friedman and Seravalli reported earlier in Oct and Nov that CBJ was shopping both Boqvist and Sillinger, with Boqvist being reported to be going for a 2nd and a young prospect or NHL ready prospect while Sillinger could go for a 1st or a 2nd a a prospect just spit balling the offer TBH, I know it will most likely require a 1st to be added to get both just gauging what yall think of the thought of the Oil acquiring Boqvist and Sillinger.
CBJ
  1. Kemp, Philip
  2. Lavoie, Raphael
  3. 2024 2nd round pick (EDM)
  4. 2026 2nd round pick (EDM)
2.
EDM
  1. Konecny, Travis
Additional Details:
So I think a lot of Oil fans would really like this trade as we a 2nd line RW and Konecny fits that bill

the trade would be built around the 1st, Bourgault and Foegele

Foegele will have to be going back the other way along with Ceci because we ain't trading Campbell's 5M contract so out the door they go, PHI gets a middle six forward with a streaky scoring touch, a "arguably" top 6 Dman who can be flipped at the deadline or be kept as PHI will most likely be trading 2 or 3 of their current Dmen, Bourgault is a B+ prospect who is looking good in Bako, then the 2024 1st
PHI
  1. Bourgault, Xavier
  2. Ceci, Cody ($500,000 retained)
  3. Foegele, Warren
  4. 2024 1st round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
hate to trade foegele as I love his play but he is a streaky scorer and he is going to want 3M+ in the summer and we can't afford that so trade him in a larger package for a much needed 2nd line forward. Bourgault can be sacrificed same as the 2024 1st

Side bar, why does it feel like the oilers last couple bottom 6 forwards are ALL streaky goal scorers, Yamo, Foegele, Kostin, Chassion, like god damn its honestly funny

You're light on the Konecny offer, it will take more to get him from Phili.

Boqvist isn't a clear upgrade on Ceci rn (though he may develop into one), don't know if spending assets there is worth while.

Boqvist, I'm fine with a second. Sillinger? I do not recall any rumors at all that he was on the block, nor would I expect that to be the case after the strides he's taken this year after a terrible sophomore slump last year. He's a first time pending RFA who plays a position of extreme need for Columbus, so unless he declares he won't re-sign under any circumstances, I'm not sure there's any situation where they'd entertain moving him.

I 100% agree with you on both points there tbh I see the real Konecny offer being my offer + maybe broberg and another first, and regarding Boqvist while he isn't a upgrade i mainly chose him for his Cap lol

Silly is definitely not available, that seems too dumb for even our FO. Boqvist - sure a 2nd is good.

I do want to add to OP that Boqvist is probably redundant to the Oil since you've got Bouchard. Boqvist's greatest value is as a Tyson Barrie type posting up on a power play.

I'm not opposed to moving Sillinger, but the deal has to make sense for Columbus.

yea i could be cool with moving him too. the concept sucks because he's been so bought in to this city since we drafted him and he's good for the culture that way but depending on the draft pick this summer, he could be our fourth best long term center behind fantilli voronkov and the pick. it sucks that this season has been such a comeback year for him and yet we are unable to consistently see him on good line. too many mouths to feed down the middle in my opinion.

he's spent 37% of his time this season with chinny on his wing which is good because chinny is really good but then very little time with marchenko or voronkov. 54% of sillinger's time at 5v5 has been with none of the russians on the ice because there are just too many centers looking to produce (boone) or develop (fantilli, voronkov, sillinger) and not enough wingers that are good enough at this moment. johnson will be someday and we hope that dumais and brindley and malatesta will be as well, but it's just hard to evaluate sillinger when one week he's playing with gaudreau and chinakhov and the next he's with texier and bemstrom.

Leave Silinger out of the deal and change one of Edmontons 2nd rounders to a 3rd rounder. I think both teams would be interested then

cole sillinger hasn't been in cleveland at all this season and has played in all but 5 CBJ games and those were missed due to injury

this is an overpay for boqvist. if it's just boqvist then a 2nd and matching salary without term gets it done.

And you know this because you work for the Blue Jackets front office then?

a comparable to this trade and Idea is the Durzi trade earlier in the year

Arizona = Durzi
LA = 2024 2nd (MTL)

you can argue that Boqvist is slightly better but only by a margin so a 2nd and a roster player with no term makes sense

You're probably thinking of Kent Johnson who had a really bad couple weeks to start the year (even scratched in game 1) and got sent to the AHL for a while. Took like a month to find his game putting up like 1.5 PPG in the A and has been back w Columbus since. (One of the very few good decisions the FO/Coaching staff have made this season)

There have been way too many posts of ppl trying to get him on here because of 4 month old reports he was upset about getting sent down or whatever. Columbus has no reason to move him either though. Like 70% of their job the next year or so is just playing wait and see on these young players imo.
