Los Angeles wouldn't accept less than the Philly 2024 first for Alex Turcotte. The Kings think that ship is finally coming in.

Edmonton will just bite the bullet on Campbell due to the favorable buyout in July.

True, but Ginning (not a great prospect, but a big stay at home defenseman, just 24 and in his second North American season has been good, but he is a type that they lack in system) and Laughton, plays all 3 positions, up/down lineup, solid leader, phsycial and scrappy are more of what they lack than Krebs, Jokiharju. I just think Laughton is more of a need for BUF, who should be more desperate to compete

Krebs is easily replaced by the 3 top prospects at center BUFFALO have, and likely never raises above 4C, occasional fill-in 3rd line center. Thompson, Cozens, Mittlestadt are 3 great options, but Savoie, Kulich, Ostlund cant even get the ice time and all 3 are more upside than Krebs, (whos having a poor yr). Joki is interesting because hes having a good year, but hes too similar in tools to power, dahlin and not good enough/good partner to be a top 4 on that team, and both could be rather expensive RFAs to sign based on where theyll play in lineup.

Krebs for Laughton is arguable as to whether or not it makes sense for the Sabres
You’re saying RFA Krebs could be too expensive for where he plays in the lineup, but so is $3mil Laughton at 4C
And if Laughton plays up in the lineup, that pushes down $3mil Greenway- so it doesn’t make sense
Also, Laughton isn’t the missing piece that puts us in the playoffs. We’re gonna continue developing all the young talent we have & idk that we’re ready for a move like that YET anyways

And Jokiharju for Ginning makes ZERO SENSE
We aren’t trading our best RIGHT defenseman for a prospect LEFT defenseman, who frankly, isn’t good
That would leave us with only one RH defenseman & there’s just absolutely no way we’d do that- it’s just a horrible idea

If you wanna move a 5 milion dollar bottom pairing defender with term, try a bottom feeder who has the cap room and wants a bunch of good futures.
A cap team trying to contend doesnt want that awful hit unless you pay them a fortune

i could see that cbj deal occurring if the flyers have someone they liked for a first rounder but slipped into the early second.

Well if you think Laughton is a 4C, theres really no point.
And while I like Jokiharju, as I said its difficult to gauge his value, because hes not fitting with Power, Dahlin in the top 4, and its tough to see him on 3rd pair, re-signing him for 3mil + when the team lacks the correct mix, and doesn;t have the right players to pair with him. Samuelsson, Power, Dahlin are the 3 LD, but your 3rd pair is going to make 7mil+ when you still lack the right RD for the 1st pair or 2nd pair.
Ultimately it doesn;t matter, if you see Krebs as equal to or greater than Laughton, or think that Greenway is better. IMO, Laughton is worth more than Krebs.

And certainly Laughton alone doesn;t get BUF to the playoffs, theyd make other moves, but this isnt a BUF ACGM.

Good skater for a big man, solid outlet passes, but no puck rusher. No glove dropper, but late developer, playing solid and physical in AHL, after good start in Sweden. He maybe goes nowhere, BUF has plenty of forward prospects, but not much in terms of stay at home dmen, but in terms of what hed fetch with a pick, 4th? In BUF right now, IMO, he or Stillman would be the 8th/9th dman (behind LD/RD Bryson), with Johnson and Stillman soon to expire. Hes a pretty safe player and while I dont know if he makes NHL, he'd be a solid and cheap AHL callup as an 8th

Probably not a prospect, a youngster then. Ludvig in PIT is considered a youngster at 24 and Bunting got rookie of the year votes at 27.

    Well Laughton IS a 4C
That’s where he’s playing for Philly currently, correct?

And he isn’t gonna play above Tage, or Cozens or Mitts
So EXACTLY WHERE in the Sabres lineup does he fit ?

It seems like you’re trying to think of what the Sabres want/need, but just failing at it

Jokiharju has been one of our best defensemen this year
His play with Power hasn’t been bad at all,
so idk why u think he isn’t fitting w Power??
But even IF we did wanna get rid of him,
we wouldn’t move him for a LEFT shot guy- ZERO CHANCE

Laughton is playing 3LW currently and PP, but you're right BUF is doing fine/normal. Laughton isn;t a C most of the time, he plays LW more than most and averages between 2nd and 3rd line time, (PK time). You dont seem to know him very well, just as maybe you know the Sabres better than I, and I never proposed Ginning as a Jokiharju replacement.

In fact I think BUF needs a solid 1RD, not a puck rusher, not a stay at home. I think BUF needs leadership, two way play, "grit" in their top 9 play. I think BUF needs someone on the 4th line that can play and might actually hit more/fight more than they have. I think they have [plenty of offensive talent, but not the leadership, two way play or mix at forward or defense to make the playoffs

Well then Ginning & Jokiharju swap has ZERO business in this trade

And like i said before, Laughton doesn’t “fit” anywhere up our lineup
    Line1- Skinner-Tage-Tuch
    Line2- Peterka-Cozens-Quinn
    Line3- Benson-Mittelstadt-Greenway

The only spot where he MIGHT be a fit is for Greenway,
bc ABSOLUTELY NONE of those others are coming out of our Top9
Problem (like i said before) is that moving Greenway to line4 makes him a $3mil 4th liner
And besides that, Greenway is playing well for us & he’s got history WAY BACK with our coach, so it’s just unlikely he’d get “demoted” down the lineup anyways

    Idk what to tell ya….
Laughton just isn’t the “fit” that u think he is

And again, Jokiharju for Ginning is just a brutal idea
Ginning won’t ever even sniff our lineup with the other Left shot guys we have- Dahlin & Power locked in, as is Samuelsson, and also Ryan Johnson (who was a 1st round pick) playing well for us as a rookie

Just bc he’s big & tough, it doesn’t mean he’s a “fit” either
If he was a RIGHT shot, and big & tough, then MAYBE he’s a guy we’d take a risk on- MAYBE
But it wouldn’t be for Jokiharju, it would be for a mid-late round pick at best

These guys just aren’t what we are looking for,
    Sorry

I don't see Philly doing any of these trades....other than Turcotte, which as others have said the Kings won't do.

Probably not a prospect, a youngster then. Ludvig in PIT is considered a youngster at 24 and Bunting got rookie of the year votes at 27.

Right. Getting roty votes at 27 doesn't make you a prospect. It makes you an old ass rookie

Sabres trade doesn’t make much sense for Buffalo

How has Ginning progressed so far. How's his skating ?

Let me make this simple so you can understand this Wise Guy.
While they are both 24 years old currently, Jokiharju is 6 months older than Ginning but has played in 316 MORE NHL GAMES.
He is by far the Sabres best RHD.
He has been paired with Power 47% of the time and together they have been on the ice for 6 more goals than they have surrendured.

At the age of 24 Laughton scored 19 goals and 47 points.
At the age of 23 Krebs has 19 goals and 59 points.
In two years Krebs will be a younger cheeper Laughton, while Laughton will not be a Sabre.
This is a horrible trade for the Sabres no matter how you try to spin it.
