Why would you willingly take on a contract like Trouba's?

Because they are getting rid of a contract like Skinners. They have plenty of internal replacements for Skinner, they really lack D of any kind.

I get that you guys need an RHD and the Skinner contract isn't great but I don't think you want to take a guy who's going to need sheltered minutes and is making $8m... Trouba is a vicious thug that's able to provide good offense but that's about all he is... he has very bad defensive metrics

Trouba is their Captain, He's not leaving a much better Rangers team for Buffalo.

Rangers organization thinks highly of Trouba, Skinner has negative value.

Schneider is the guy I'd rather go after

If I had to overpay for a guy I'd rather overpay my captain who's a top 4 dman than a winger. I like skinner I just think trouba has more value and fits a role that's much harder to fill.
