This is all fine and well. Prospects become suspect until they prove it, obviously aren’t getting to the playoffs without a miracle run this year. On top of this concept, UPL has been one of the best goalies in the league this year. If he were on a good team, he’d be getting Vezina consideration. So he’s played better than Gibson, will be cheaper to retain, and all Buf gets in return is a 3rd while having to probably send a 1st + for Gibson. It just doesn’t make sense.

Goalies are weird and sometime can go off in a contract year just to regress back the season after. If buffalo feels like his play isnt sustainable or they dont see him as the long term solution, they could sell high on him. If I remember right, last season there were already rumors him being shopped around.
