One would have to feel a little bad for Hunter Brzustewicz. Wherever he goes, Seamus Casey is there to take his minutes. At NTDP, at Michigan, on World Junior team…now in Calgary.

Poor fella just needs a chance.

      Calgary declines all of these.

Seamus Casey will likely get a few cups of coffee at the NHL level but he's too small to be more than a long shot at making it as an NHL regular.

I feel bad ACgming them to play under Trent Cull in their system. Hopefully the guy realized his job is development and not playing a bunch of vets to try and win AHL games over young guys.

Those two would be seriously difficult to play against in the AHL until the big team comes calling.

Lots of 'smaller' guys impact the game. Hughes, Spurgeon, Zucs, Marchy, etc. Not saying he's them but he's developing well and not impossible on size alone.

Pretty well thought out pieces, I don't know if Dallas moves off of Lundkvist after paying a premium price for him so recently, wouldn't hate it but I don't think Dallas does it. I really like Bahl as a piece coming back in any NJ deal I think he fits exactly what Conroy is trying to do, I do think they target a forward prospect as opposed to Casey though whether that's Stillman or Clarke, especially if the Dallas deal was to have a D man coming back as you have here. I think this deadline they may target a few more raw prospects and picks as opposed to next deadline when they can flip Kuzmenko, Mangiapane, Sharangovich, for some more roster ready guys.

I’m not so worried about Casey since the skating is elite (have twice seen him called best skater in NCAA recently, once on Big10 network, once in Hobey Baker write up). He plays a more two-way game than the usual undersized dman (was deployed primarily in defensive situations at World juniors). And he has a little bite to his game. (Although not sure the physicality will translate at pro level).

Where he fits into NJD lineup will be an interesting question. He played a lot on his off-hand at NTDP and is quite comfortable there…so it’s possible they try him there

Edwards is probably more like Grz….Casey is more of a righty Torrey Krug.

Sharangovich seems like someone they'd want to keep around? Bread man too unless he thinks he is going to get a salary bump. Both guys seem like good extendable guys between $4.5-5M with term. I do think Kuz would probably be moved again.

I personally think they move on from Mangiapane, he is more of the same when it comes to what they have in the pipeline, middle 6 high floor, low ceiling guys. If they can move him for a piece that has similar upside at a lower cap hit I think that's the route they go. Especially when you look at Calgary's recent record of signing expiring UFA's, I don't have a lot of hope that he returns. Sharangovich I would love to bring back as he's proving how vesatile he is this season and his age fits a window for the team directions.

I would give a 3rd for Kuzmenko in the offseason. But not a 2nd and 3rd.

Deadline, I'd give a 3rd and D-Aho (roster spot reason)

Buffalo would decline that trade; far too much value being moved by Buffalo for a guy with 2 years left on his contract.

      That’s a top 6 forward, a top 4 D and a potential Top 6 forward with a 2nd for a singular player. A great player don’t get me wrong but a tad overkill.

Plus we want to keep Casey in Buffalo.

I’d offer Samuelsson, Ostlund and a 2nd for Andersson. I’d go as far as switching Ostlund for Savoie but that’s my cut off

How do you keep Casey in Buffalo when he belongs to NJ. As for Andersson top pair RD almost never become available especially not with 2 years term left on a very team friendly contract. Your suggestion hugely undervalues Andersson.

Mitts, first name is Casey lol

I see Andersson as a Top 2 D man but not a star defenseman. But most of all he isn’t some sort defensive gritty player which is what we desperately need. He’s effectively the best possible version of Jokiharju. All around good defenseman who skates well and has many high end but no elite attributes.

Imo, Jok's ceiling is no Andersson. Dahlin and Andersson could be epic. Everybody hesitated on Hughes and Hronek but that's turned out great.

Actually Andersson is gritty, he's just not the type who throws a lot of hits and tries to blow the other guy up every time. In fact I've always wished he would do that more often he might be elite then. IOW gritty but not mean though he does show a bit of a mean streak occasionally it's rare.

Yeah, he doesn't let anyone intimidate him and he's one of the first guys to rush into a tussle to help a teammate. Usually grabs one of the bigger tougher meaner guys on the other team to tie him up. Like nearly all Swedes he rarely fights and never starts a fight but unlike most Swedes he will fight when he has to.
