Carolina got Pacioretty for free last time, I can't see them moving a 3rd for him now. Maybe a 4th or a 5th, but he'd also be the lowest scoring winger on the Canes

If Boston is moving Poitras, they're aiming higher than Strome as the return. Nothing wrong with the player, but at that price they might as well let Poitras develop or go big game hunting with every asset they have
And this year, they should probably avoid anything involving moving their first.

There isn’t a condition where I’d even remotely consider that deal

Strome easily gets a 1st + prospect. Poitras was aiming high but Strome is signed for long term low cap hit for a good 200ft 2c. Poitras had a great season for a 19 year old but idk if he develops to a better version of what Strome is currently. Strome fits the competitive window better that Boston is currently in... was my thought.

He also had a 7 Million dollar cap hit that Vegas needed to offload. I think a 3rd is fine value for a player that knows the system and could help with middle 6 scoring.

He'd be the Canes 9th highest scoring winger...

He's only played 18 games and is at exactly .5 ppg on the year, but it would allow someone like Jarvis to jump up on the line with Svech/Aho while not relegating the Staal/Fast/Martinook line to a complete black hole of offense.

Honestly, don’t see Boston front office moving Poitras for Strome straight up.

1st/Locmelis or Farinacci, probably in the ballpark for value.

Boston has zero cap space though, don’t see them taking on long term 3rd line center if they make a trade which is the role he fills in Boston. If they trade for center this deadline that is not a top end guy it will be a rental that comes off the books at years end to not inhibit them. It would be more someone like Wenneberg, an expiring deal that the other team can retain on.

3c in Boston? imo Strome is a much better player than Coyle and is equal to Zacha. Coyle is having a hot year but overall both play with better wingers than Strome. Cap issue makes sense though. that would complicate things for sure

Value wise i could see 1st + Farinacci

Tells me you don’t watch much Bruins hockey. Coyle is their current #1 and has played like a #1 this year. Zacha works well with Pasta, they are not splitting them up.

It's a good thought for sure, I don't disagree that he would help the team and fit in really well over the next few years, but Coyle has done well enough this year to earn a permanent spot as a 2C on the team, especially with how well he and Marchand play together. That would mean Strome is the 1C and while I think he could fill it admirably, I would rather see those same assets mentioned go toward a more established player (if one were available of course but that might not be the case). More than that, I would like them to be patient with Poitras just based on how bad they've been at holding onto prospects over the past decade or so. Even if he doesn't project to be as good as Strome, it doesn't hurt to hold off on trading him. But again, I really like Strome and I think he would play well under the Bruins system, it just isn't the right time

Edmonton doesn't need Jensen & his cap hit... drop him, add $300k retention for Dowd and they'll send the 2nd + Petrov.

Strome isn't getting traded, and not interest in campbell. That's such a bad contract I wouldn't pay to take that on.
