A 2026 first? Not really the most appealing asset for Dowd.

I just put it in there. the 2024 1st could go to Washington if that makes the deal better.

Dowd really value a first + ? I don’t watch the caps but is not overpaid for a player with 16 points?

Yah imagine if Draiaistl and McDavid bolt after their contracts and Oilers are in the toilet in 2026.
Yikes.

TBH i think its better than a 2024 first. Good chance the 2026 team will be worse since they won't have cap after signing new McDavid and Drai contracts.

Dowd isn't worth a first (maybe a second), if WSH can get a first for him I hope it isn't from EDM.
This is a lot to give up for marginal improvements this year, at the value you've given up why don't we just go big game hunting for someone with term?

marginal improvements is what this team needs. our 4th line is a black hole right now and will get caved in the playoffs without an upgrade.

So do Dowd for a second, 4th line of Jan-Dowd-Ryan would be good.
Blowing up our next 3 drafts for a marginal upgrade this year aint it.

Even if they resign (and I think they will), we're gonna be in cap hell. Bouch needs a new contract, same the McLeod.....

Edmonton declines all 4 trades. You're overpaying on every single one of them. You do know that Chiarelli isn't the Oilers GM anymore, right?

He is considering this draft seems pretty shallow and the ED 1st is probably going to be like 28th or later. Dowd is an elite defense I’ve shutdown center, pker, play driver, who also puts up decent points for a 4th line center. He should be considered the caps 3C though

You seem to missing the retention and cap dump of brown. I wouldn’t retain a dollar on Dowd unless a 1st is coming back

Interesting proposal, and if the Sens can extend Foegele 3-4 years it'd be great too

Brown is $775k, how is that a cap dump? tears of joy

Dowd is worth 2nd + 5th with 25% retained, maybe as much as 2nd + 3rd with 50% retained.

It's been paid out already, 100% of the cap hit goes to Edmonton irrespective of whether Brown gets traded or not. The only thing that travels with him is his salary-related cap hit of $775k.
