Carolina's left side is full with Slavin, Skjei and Orlov.

Carolina declines.

Orlov can play both sides and Skjei's up at the end of the year. For a 3rd pairing d man next year, I'd do this

Why? We just signed Orlov. Plus, we're only a year away from the dominance of Nikishin. No need to lock Skjei up long term. It's why they tried to trade him in the summer

I think the jury is out on that... I can see the Hurricanes locking him up for a 3-4 year deal and giving some time for Alexander Nikishin to adjust to the north american game

I thought Orlov was the stop gap for Nikishin

Orlov is only here for one more year... I'm talking about giving Nikishin insulation once he gets to North America and not immediately forcing him into a top-4 role if he isn't ready for it. The Hurricanes are kind of notorious for slow-walking defensive prospects

I thought he was NHL ready as wheeler had him high in the 2020 redraft. What type of player is he and what should I expect him to be.

He's NHL ready but every single new defenseman struggles with the Hurricanes system (including a Norris winner like Brent Burns) initially so it might be a good idea to temporarily shelter him until he's familiar with it. He's a two-way defenseman with a great shot and he plays a physical brand of hockey. He led KHL defensemen in points last season and this season and is scoring about .25 goals a game. If I had to guess he's going to be a top-20 to 30 defenseman at a minimum once he gets some NHL time under his belt.

Why not . Seems reasonable. Can't think of any strong objections from either side.. you're mileage may vary

Sens have a ridiculous abundance of Cs and LHDs

Anything move that ends up adding a RHD or a 2-way winger is respecting team needs.
