Description
Throwing out some (kinda) new ideas.

VGK - Interested in Mantha, and the Caps need a puck transporting Center to get Ovi the puck. Two expiring deals that fit team needs a bit better.

NJD - Curious on the value here. Markstrom was apparently getting Holtz +++ and while Darcy is not quite Markstrom, he's still a recent cup winner who should perform better with NJD.

CAR - Pacioretty has NMC and staying east. Sending him somewhere familiar just for a pick upgrade. Caps dont have much leverage here.

DAL - Getting them a RHD (could swap for Jensen but figured the $ was better w/ TVR. Getting Dellandrea as a young flyer that seems to fi the mold of what WSH is trying to do.

COL - Aube-Kubel back to his cup winning spot

EDM - Two birds one stone for EDM. Keeping their 1st to go after other fish while the Caps get Broberg for Dowd and a 3 for Edmundson.

TOR - I'm sure TOR fans think they deserve more, and I could see them asking for one of the Caps' 2025 2's.

Would you prefer the Devils trade Holtz + 1st for Markstrom?

Markstrom is much better than DK. And if we are being truly honest, the reported trade which was rejected also included salary retention on Markstrom.

Colorado declines.

The last thing they need are more bottom 6 wings. NAK played a little over half a season for the Avs and was a healthy scratch at times during the Cup run. He wasn't instrumental by any means, more of an ancillary piece that's already been replaced.

Vegas and Jersey pass pretty quickly. Canes probably would pay a 4th for Patches if they want him back, really depends if he will waive and who he will waive for. TVR is a decent bottom pairing guy, but he isn’t worth that much. Same reasoning applies to why the Avs aren’t going to take that NAK proposal. Pretty sure the Caps would want more for Dowd than a prospect who has severely fallen out of favor and is looking like a bust. A 3rd for Edmundson is whatever, albeit he probably is worth a bit less. And considering the likelihood that the previous 2 proposals go through, I don’t think the Leafs are willing to move Robertson for free, despite his injury struggles.

The only one here that I see not really having any legs is the Kuemper to NJ move. He's teetering on being unmovable because of his age and inconsistent play on top of the term he has. I don't think he's a cap dump, but no one is taking that on right now with the uncertainty he brings with his performance. Everything else here makes sense to a degree, just values need to be re-worked slightly.
