Yes, the skating is elite. And yes, the puck skills are elite. And yes, he QBs the best power play in 35 years. And yes he leads dman scoring in toughest conference.
But no, your description is not right. He is bigger than Quinn, about same size as Makar and Fox. Very strong on skates and plays a lot more physical than you’d expect. Also, gets high acolades for his defense…and was primary deployed as defensive dman at World Juniors.
He is on Big Ten network right now, if you’d like to watch. 3-0 Michigan.
Get real. toughest confernce? in what? US peewee or w/e they call it down there?
Casey hasn't even played pro hockey yet. He's played for a stacked US national development team and one of the top US university teams. It's easy for a little guy to look good on teams like that but until he plays in the AHL. The WHL even the OHL are tougher leagues to play in than any league he's every played in. If he continues to produce in the AHL where you don't have stacked teams like the USNDT or the top US University teams and where heavy play with more hitting and fighting in a single game than you might see most in US league teams have in a whole year then you can start to think that maybe just maybe he might make the NHL eventually.
And BTW capfriendly has Quinn and Casey listed as almost exactly the same size, same height with 3 lbs weight difference. Most other sites list both Makar and Fox as 1 inch taller and 10+ lbs heavier than the 5'10" 173 lbs capfriendly has Casey at. On top of that most other sites agree on the size of Makar, Fox and Hughes but have Casey at just 5'9" 162 making it 2 inches and 20 lbs.
Fact is just because a few high scoring undersized offensive defenseman have made the NHL doesn't mean Casey will. His chances of becoming a NHL regular at all (far less being a star) are like all such defensemen low. Deny it all you want but don't go thinking just because a few guys beat the long odds against them and made it that anyone with comparable stats on stacked teams in different softer non professional leagues will make it too.
You're comparing apples to oranges and saying because 1 out of 1000 small opples made the top pro league and became stars so will my 1 small orange who has yet to play even just 1 game in the minor pros.
