Well I disagree - all 3 make them better in the long run

Don't know why that's a surprise. It's certainly not the first time.

Not very insightful. What part of any of these trades don’t make Blues better for next season and beyond?

I love Krug for what he did for Boston in the past, but my general feel I have is you are asking Boston to pay a 2nd round pick to get him to a salary he’d be lucky to make in free agency next year at his age.

Every time I watch him, I feel like the reason Sweeney didn’t put a bid in for him is his defense. I’d rather have the flexibility to put that salary towards a bigger one and end up with a premium D in free agency.

With most 32+ year old players who have contract term into their mid 30s, I tend to think they are better off with the team they are on. You’ll generally not get value.

Fair enough. Your current head coach loved him when he was asst coach with Blues but understand.

Same as the usual. Don't want to retain half on Krug, don't want Graves, don't want to trade Buch to Colorado. Boston and the Avs presumably pass anyway.

Both teams likely decline on the Avs trade.

I’d rather not give up a 2nd for Graves. Army probably won’t retain that much on Krug, and we can trade Buch for so much more and especially not to COL. Byram is fine but Wood is a 4th liner with a horrible long term deal. We have prospects who can take that bottom 6 spot for years to come. Perunovich would also blossom into a top 4 D for the Avs.

There is not a trade Army can make that will bring back more value than Byram would bring to the Blues.

The Blues are probably going to lose Perrunovich to ufa status unless he somehow is able to play in almost every one of the remaining games which given his health history seems unlikely.

Krug is never getting moved unless Army eats 50% or buys him out.

I’d love to have Byram and he’d be a dream partner for Parayko but Buch has more value than Bo. With the tension between the 2 teams I can’t see Army wanting to talk to COL unless it’s a blockbuster 3 team trade and we grab Bo from someone else.

Given his age/contract status/and position, Buch does not have more value than Byram. If they were both UFA’s, Byram would get a bigger ticket. COL would only be doing this to win now and they could also resign Toews then.

That’s weird because I remember you salivating over Graves last year…

You did 2 years ago. One bad fit on Pitt changed your mind that much?

This qualfies as "salivating"?

"Honestly, I'm not totally sold on this option, both because of what it may cost (something in the neighborhood of the LIndholm package? maybe slightly more?) and how what he brings would fit. But it's worth a tire kick."

I had him as the last resort on a four-player wish list at a time of some actual contention desperation, mostly because his cap hit was so low. That's miles away from salivating or even wanting him.

Salivating is the wrong word, but were definitely other threads where you wanted him if I cared enough to go back to find. You mention a Lindholm package to get him here…he and retention went for a 1st, 2 2nd’s, and a salary dump. You don’t give up that package for someone “you never wanted”…

They already handed Toews a 7 year extension in October. They have a bunch of low salary players coming off the books this summer and Rantanen, Byram, Georgiev the summer after with little cap space. Teams will try to take advantage of COL’s lack of cap but it won’t be us unfortunately.
