Wings need to start to clear the decks of older more expensive players, so getting Rust and his lengthy contract for a younger player does not make sense.

I mean yeah... Mazur's outside our Top five prospects (It's a stacked list though) but Detroit's not trading their hopeful Tyler Bertuzzi replacement for a guy that's about to be 32.

Detroit passes, Carter Mazur alone will be better than Bryan Rust who's on the wrong side of 30.

Well if you don't trade for the best possible return, the Pens have no hold over him as a UFA....he can sign anywhere
The best scenario might be trade Guentzel, and sign him as a UFA.

Dorofeyev and Korczak do nothing for the Pens. That return can easily be beat by a team like Carolina who has actual prospects that would be valuable for the Pens.
