Then the 1st is off the table and the reason I say that is we haven't seen a massive blockbuster trade in like 6 years with more than 2+ high tier prospects/1sts moved for 1 person. What this package includes now is a former 5th and 6th round pick and even if you wanna include laine in that which is a 3rd and you are asking for a 1-4 pick being involved too? New Columbus GM would balk at that especially when our RHD prospect line is running thin. You are more likely to get a Russian forward than Jiricek at this point. I know people love to think X player is worth 4-5 firsts but until a massive blockbuster deal happens again involving that many S tier prospects/picks I don't think any GM is going to throw out that much in capital to aquire players no matter how good they are.

I don't disagree with what you said. It's more that I'm not very high on any of the assets in this deal aside from the 1st.

Johnson is a nice piece but I'm not convinced he's a star player in his future. Laine is such a massive question mark right now and with his mental health struggles I don't think he would be a good fit in a high pressure market like Vancouver. Boqvist I have 0 interest in.

Yeah if I would offer it be KJ, Dumais, Provorov @ 50% (Or Svoliz) and unprotected 1st. If you want an RHD Cuelemans can be on the table though I think he's at best a 3rd RHD at this point, the ability is there but the headspace is a concern. The Laine thing is just probably cap reasons.

If you can get something like that, more power to you, but it doesn't make much sense for that to come from Columbus. We just can't afford the hole on future RD that trading both Jiricek and this year's 1st would create.

Ya that is fair. I think there is probably other packages cbj could put together maybe involving guys like Marchenko or Sillinger but I'd imagine they'd get beat by someone else if Jiricek isn't involved.

Could also be next year's 1st rather than this years.
