It's using past cap dumps that are comparable. It would cost a 2nd. It's not that complicated. If it was just this year than yeah sure a 3rd could get it done.

If that's what Lou wants, give it to him. I don't care what it costs, within reason obviously.

I love Brock but if Isles lose a few more games before deadline and they can ship him to COL for Ritchie+ or even DAL for Stankoven (I've seen that on here but highly doubt that happens), I'd be ok with him leaving

What comparable are you using? Zaitsev had a 4.5 cap hit with two years remaining, and he cost a 2nd. RyJo, though not worth his salary, has much more value than Zaitsev. I think if he were to be traded over the summer a 3rd would be enough.

Stankoven is in a place to help the stars now so I don’t see him getting moved but Ritchie likely being a few years away makes him expendable. We’d likely need retention though. I’d personally make that trade in a heart beat though. Our team next year would be so good

Ideal scenario for me is COL overpays so NYI secures some future and I still get to root for Nelson because if Isles get eliminated I just divert to rooting COL cus I'm a big Rantanen guy. So overpay + Nelson being an Av is an absolute win for me

He's as bad as Zaitsev and no, he wasn't traded with two more years. He was traded literally February of 2023 with one year after that. I've seen someone else say that and idk what people are talking about

Bailey was traded with a 2nd only to get bought out. Hell, Marleau was dumped in the offseason with one year left just to get bought out for a FIRST.

The price to dump a stiff like Johansen is much higher.

Drop Meyers and improve the pick and Guerin would say yes. Fluery probably isn't on the block though. Unless we completely eat **** in the next week, he appears to want to stay.

Fleury basically isn't available. So that scrubs that trade. Avs decline the NYI trade (and no they aren't likely to move Ritchie either), that's an overpay. Avs don't need ZG and unless he wants a move he likely stays a lifer in Buffalo. The RyJo move is pretty fair and close to value.

Would rather have Ritchie than another 1st, but it really doesn't matter. This is good for the Islanders.
