Description
Created for fun due to the rumours about Tkachuk being unhappy in Ottawa. This is based on the scenario that he asks for a trade and Ottawa don't see any other solution. It's not going to happen, in my opinion, and according to the rumours, Ottawa would want veterans for him, which Columbus don't have a lot of. So it's all highly unlikely. But hey, I've got nothing better to do, so I just thought I'd throw together something.

Inspired by https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/4927687, all signings are based on https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1R0mzG_2auhSGxLZ_LoiE9EwK8enxbNbw0BGqDVmKlu0/edit#gid=1228449332.

The following factors are ignored:
- The likelihood of him even requesting a trade out of Ottawa.
- His desire to play specifically in Columbus.
As such, any comments related to these points are superfluous and will be ignored.

Ottawa fans, I know that these kind of rumours are infuriating, so I try to make this trade hurt for Columbus as well by including Jenner in the deal.

As a result of this, Columbus basically had to sign a veteran C in the off-season, so I made them sign Monahan.

If Sens move Tkachuk they’re delaying their window so Provorov and Jenner are useless. That’s not enough

Swap laine and Jenner. Could ship provorov to a third team for a first maybe more and send it to the sens

Sens would not value any of those pieces in a Tkachuk trade.

Probably starts with your top 5 pick and a young solid piece

As far as I understood the rumours, Ottawa wanted core veterans. Since Severson and Gudbranson are unmovable, I'd say that's the best Columbus can offer in that regard. But for you, since you seem to want youth or draft picks, would exchanging Jenner for a 2024 1st (top 2 protected, deferred to 2025 otherwise) and Provorov for Chinakhov make it more interesting?

I don't think Laine and Jenner have equal value at this moment. If Ottawa wanted picks, yes, then CBJ could do that with Provorov. As I understood the rumours, they were interested in veterans. But if Ottawa want picks instead, yes, then I'd agree with the part about Provorov.

Many Leafs fans have been throwing 1st rounders and 3rd rounders and some of their good prospects. As long as the fans can influence Treliving, I am sure that the Leafs would be a perfect trade partner. You can get much more Peeke. Go for it!

They want core vets but if they move Tkachuk they’re pretty much in a retool to get younger (wouldn’t call it a rebuild cuz of Stutzle, Sanderson, Greig, Pinto etc)

Would my suggested alterations in post #4 be more interesting? I'd be willing to swap Chinakhov for Marchenko too, if you prefer.

I’d consider laine (for salary purposes), the jackets first round pick as long as it’s not top 3, and Kent Johnson for Tkachuk if he was willing to commit long term

I'm afraid Laine is virtually untradeable right now.
