Signing in Carolina when they’re the most conservative team in the league is certainly a choice .

He probably doesn't re-sign in Ottawa, that said I don't think they were close at all at trading Pettersson it was obviously more so a backup plan

Like I don’t get Necas + Kotkaniemi being in the deal. That would be a massive fleece for Carolina if those are the centrepieces .

I wouldn’t trade Brady Tkachuk for Necas ++ let alone if it was Pettey

Thats hilarious since Carolina can get to and win playoff series. We didn’t change over the roster by being conservative to make that happen. That is without considering we just had serious conversations about a big move, again

I agree do we know the actual package that was offered? I don't think we do but I could be wrong, that seems really low for me as well, that's a part of the reason I don't think there was actually any serious thought put into it outside of it being a backup plan

Norris has a busted shoulder, Chychrun is very much an unfinished article of defence and he’s 25, not 22. Batherson is a fine winger but not quite the player Sens fans want to make him to be. If you wanted to make a real good offer it would be Brady, one first, and Ostapchuk.

Pathetic trade by Ottawa.
Petey deserves to be a Canuck long-term.

To me it sounds like it was mostly just a situation where Carolina called and Allvin basically used trade talks with them as leverage to force a decision out of Petey. Gave him the ultimatum of you're either gonna extend/commit to extending, or you wont be wearing a Canucks jersey by the end of the year. Basically just wanted to use the leverage of a potential trade to force Petey's hand by taking some control instead of letting him hold all the cards.

I’d be asking for Svechnikov, Morrow and a pick if I’m Vancouver

my guess is necas would have been involved almost for sure. then probably another big cap piece to help offset the cost (maybe orlov or svech or something)

then probably nikishin depending on what the other cap piece was in the trade.

I'd definitely have started the ask with Aho/Svechnikov, Morrow/Nikishin, and the 24 1st. Given that the Canucks are competing, I could also see them wanting a Tkachuk-style return centred around a package like Necas, Pesce, and the 24 1st.

Norris just tore his labrum for a third time. He will need surgery and like 6-8 months to heal. Resuming his career might be a long shot. Looking like a klefbom situation sadly.

Yeah I definitely can see that as the situation as well, like I said i just don't think they were close at all to moving him it just seems like either leverage or just planning if things for some reason did go south

He just said those were pieces in the deal, not the entire deal.
