Why does Montreal want Eller?

Because they need a center to finish the year and Dubas is a compulsive bad trader.

This wouldn't be a bad trade. I couldn't care less about Eller. Average 3C, but can't see why MTR wouldn't just use someone in their system.

It wouldn't? I think it's a very bad trade. If that's all Eller would net, they would just keep him

They got him for nothing as a UFA. I have nothing against him, but I hate the defensive specialist bottom 6 F team composition. It's a disaster so Dubas needs to change it up. Or they can rebuild. Either way, couldn't care less about Eller on the roster. He's not a bad cap hit, but losing him for effectively nothing is no loss either.

Canucks pass easily. They’re giving up the 2 best assets in that trade to acquire a guy that isn’t better of any of their top 6 dmen

Doubt the Canucks would be interested in giving up assets for a guy who wouldn't make their top 6 and would be an overpaid 7th d

Maybe, but he has value to other teams. Someone would give you a 3rd for him if not more. I'm not against selling him, I'm against selling LOW on him.

That's fair. I wouldn't want other teams taking advantage of PIT.
