A simple no will suffice for CBJ on trade #1. Jenner has very high value to the Blue Jackets. Any trade that they would accept would be seen as an overpay by other teams.

Regarding #2, I don't see CBJ retaining on Peeke.

Switch the picks to the other side on the Peeke trade and it may be possible. Peeke has negative value with that contract...hes not even a regular with one of the worst teams in the league.

Who ever the new GM is, gotta think moving Jenner is a viable option. I don’t understand why but I get BlueJacket fans on this site live him but he’ll return valuable pieces that you can build with, he doesn’t fit your competitive window (3-5 years out), and having him on your roster hasn’t helped - 4 straight DNQs. Jackets don’t have to move him but they should to maximize their potential to win when all the high draft picks hit their prime

Of course it's all about getting the right offer, theoretically. But his value as a veteran 2C with grit, work ethic and leadership for a bargain cap hit makes him very valuable to Columbus. The Blue Jackets lack veteran leadership and grit while having no potential 2C in their prospect pool. Therefore, the relative value of Boone Jenner is very high to them, beyond what the current results show. They need more Boone Jenners, not fewer. Thus, any value that would make them even consider trading Jenner would probably be too high for the team receiving him. It's important to have a good veteran presence, even if you are rebuilding. Trading Jenner would risk being stuck in a perpetual rebuild like Buffalo has been.

Fair point - lots of ways to build a team; I would always prefer my team be ruthless and trade anyone with value that doesn’t align with our window. Sabres have vets (Okposo, Tuch, Skinner) but they play in the tougher division and I feel their window is 2 years away still. Possible these days to sign vet leadership via FA (like Hawks) + Jackets have Werenski & Gudbranson. I’d trade him but to each their own

The bolded is poor logic. The Jackets' losses have come in spite of Boone's efforts, not because of them. And maximizing our potential to win requires that all those high draft picks learn how to play responsible and committed hockey, which is what he's good at demonstrating.

It’s a difference of opinion, not poor logic. Jenner is not helping the Blue Jackets win which is the only purpose of pro sports ; the objective evidence being you’ve finished at or near bottom of standings 4 years in a row & probably for a few more. Is he at fault? Of course not. Just my opinion - I’d trade him now for A picks + prospects. Lots of good pros around that can teach young guys, but talent wins and Jacket don’t have enough, even with Jenner

The bolded is what makes it poor logic.

Veteran players who aren't more #13F/#7Ds are in such extremely high demand that we'd be spending all of the assets we get from a Jenner trade and more besides to get a replacement Jenner.

Top-3 prospect pool and that doesn't include Adam Fantilli. Try again.

Agree to disagree. Good luck at the draft 👍
