3.
OTT
  1. Markström, Jacob
  2. 2025 2nd round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
Korpisalo is a strong candidate to bounce back. Plus with Vladar and Wolf in the organization I believe they can chance the Korpisalo contract. If I was Ottawa I would hold onto him and not spend an asset like Chychrun to help unload a mistake. The 2nd round pick is for negotiating and 8 X 7.5M contract extension.
CGY
  1. Chychrun, Jakob ($2,300,000 retained)
  2. Korpisalo, Joonas
Additional Details:
Ottawa retains 50% of last year on the deal and is signed to an extension by CGY.
4.
OTT
  1. 2024 5th round pick (PIT)
SJS
  1. Forsberg, Anton
Additional Details:
TRADE DEADLINE DEAL

Sens move on from Forsberg and San Jose I believe takes a chance on him but anyone really doesn't have to be San Jose.
5.
OTT
  1. Hayton, Barrett [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Hayton needs a change of Scenery
ARI
  1. Brännström, Erik
Additional Details:
Brannstrom needs a change of scenery as well. Two teams with young guys the same age and roiughly the same cap hit exchanging teams.

Markstrom has a NMC and no one is taking that Korpisalo contract, keep dreaming on that trade...and Norris is going to be on LTIR all of next season so you can be cap compliant? Seems convenient...

Nevermind the fact that Tanev and Marchessault are unlikely to sign their last contracts with the Sens since it would take overpayments and Sens are a bottom feeder without the cap space for the overpayments - unless they move some of their bigger names (Chabot, Norris, etc.)

Seriously why would COL trade for a winger when everybody knows they need a center? They already have 9 NHL caliber wingers including 7 top 9 wingers before Kovalenko comes over and if Landeskog plays in the playoffs.

Pretty happy with Hatton at center. I've never been high on Brannstrom. So it's an easy pass for me.

Calgary would definitely be interested in Chychrun but not with Korpisalo attached to the deal.

They aren'ty a bottom feeder. They actually have a very talented team that under their previous coach, played pond hockey for 4 years, With the right coach this team could've done damage. But the bottle neck finally got released. This team when it gets .900 goaltending? Was something like 15-3-1 or something like that. 7th overall in 5 vs 5 scoring... We just have crap special teams and no structure. A new coach fixes the structure, and the PP and PK will get tweaked, and a new coach will help with that. Giroux signed here, while us not being a playoff team, Korpisalo did as well. Ottawa likely overpays for Tanev, and Marcheassault was because I remember him saying he liked Gerard Gallant who seems to have a good shot at becoming the next coach. Look at the talent Ottawa, Gallant as coach, plus factor in the high draft pick Ottawa is likely to land? There are a ton of reasons to play for Ottawa.

Ottawa has to start winning now.... If it hasn't already, losing makes it's way into the fabric of the culture of the team. Have to start winning. You have to give up something to get something. Take a look at the lineup I put together with trades you didn't even like. Ottawa has options. We're not as bad as our recortd suggests.

For me it's two teams that likely need to make adjustments. Korpisalo likely rebounds, Ottawa basically played pond hockey under DJ Smith. With the Flames losing Tanev and likely Hanifin? Chychrun at $2.3M for a season and I have that deal as Chychrun being extended.... You likely land a goaltender who is cheaper and plays better in Calgary's system than he did in Ottawa's.... you get a top pairing defenseman long-term.

Fair enough... I've heard on a couple of Yotes broadcasts that Hayton could use a change of scenbery... Brannstrom has good defensive stats. To me Brannstrom for sure.... and Hayton are two players that could really use a change of scenery. If that really is the case? The trade makes sense. Both are roughly the same age, make close to the same money, both have offensive traits that haven't been unlocked yet. I think both teams would be okay exploring it.
