I don’t get the fascination with trading Bunting to Pittsburgh from canes fans on here

The Chicago trade seems overly complicated and a bit of a lateral move, but trades are pretty fair and creative overall. Nice job.

Bunting is a defensive sieve even in our system. We are going to have to bury him on the 4th line for the playoffs or that 2nd line will get preyed upon. He isn’t a bad player or a cap dump but if we can move him for someone who will be better in our system, it should be explored

We have more than enough defensively responsible forwards. It’s going to be fine.

Smith is more than just a defensive forward

My head hurts from trying to follow the Car/Edm/Chi 3-way. But the Hawks probably accept.

I would be all over this is I was Davidson.

Hawks ship out Murphy with no retention, Katchouk decent 4th line depth guy and retain 50% on Peace for the remainder of this season and get:

1st and 2nd round picks, two B- prospects, Ceci to backfill for next season for Murphy and Foegele who I hope they would try to resign and if not they could move for another 2nd/3rd round pick.

Sign me up!

Take out Foegele and I'd think EDM considers this.

That’s fine. I was just trying to maximize edmonton’s cap dumping potential to use their first elsewhere

Just trying to keep things unnecessarily complicated

I feel like Chicago is getting more for Murphy than we are getting for Pesce. I get that Chicago is retaining for Pesce, but I would expect him to get more on the market than Murphy would. Maybe I'm thinking about the trade the wrong way idk?

Ceci is coming from Edmonton though, we shouldn't be the ones paying to get rid of him. Murphy does have term, but we're giving up Pesce, two prospects, a first, and 2nd and getting back Murphy, a 2nd, and Broberg. The value just doesn't seem to match up from a Carolina perspective.

Edit: I think Edmonton should be the ones paying to get rid of Ceci and for retention on Pesce not us.

We are paying for Broberg by paying for Chicago to take on ceci

To me Broberg+2nd is the package for Pesce. We don't need to "pay extra" for Broberg by helping Edmonton get rid of Ceci. Idk it just feels like we're giving up the most in the trade and not quite getting equal value back. It's a creative idea though.
