TB, sure. But MTL? Dumping those contracts for just a 2nd is a steal. NSH doesn't touch that proposal.

Montreal doesn't want or care about dumping those contracts. They don't need the cap space.

How is it a steal? They expire next year, they can just wait and let them go without having to pay and its not like they fighting for a playoff spot. They could also just wait until next deadline and retain on one of them to possibly get a return.

If they choose to do something in the off-season, like make a move to improve their team, than yes, a 2nd would be a steal for dumping that much salary.

We have ~$15M(+) in space with an already full roster. We'd have trouble finding enough moves to use it all.
Yes, a 2nd is cheap to move that much salary, but the need just isn't there.
We could give them away (FC) or you can have another team retain, but Montreal spending picks or using retention slots for those two doesn't make sense.
