There just isn’t enough value for the caps to take on Sheary’s contract and give up Dowd there. There’s a piece missing

That’s the problem - Tampa has so few assets that they’re gonna be willing to move. I’d imagine a team wants a second to eat that full Sheary contract solely because of the term, the caps may fetch a late first or early second for Dowd, and I’m pretty indifferent on the Edmundson return although I feel like some team is gonna stupidly overpay. There’s no way the lightning move Howard right now unless they’re getting back a far more impressive talent than Dowd, so it’s tough.

I don't think that's very likely. Sharks are 9 points from being mathematically eliminated from the playoffs and the Caps are on the outside looking in. I'd be very surprised if either of them make the playoffs, let alone reach the final.

(I'm sorry, when I 1st read the title for about a quarter second I thought that's what you meant so I decided to roll with it in the comment. I'll see myself out).
