Only difference is Barron needs a new contract already, where Rosen has 2 more ELC years left

Fair deal IMO. Not sure the Habs take it because Barron has shown himself capable in the NHL for stretches and Rosen hasn't.

Barron would take a 2 years at around what Harris got (1.4M/season). Not a big deal IMO.

Not sure it's a big deal, but it's a 2 year RFA difference, difference in arbitration moving forward and Rosen can be sent up and down without waivers

Fair. I guess the OP was thinking you have so many forwards in the system, this is one you could afford to lose without too much pain.

fair. I just don'T see Barron signing for more than 1.5M , but I get your point

Based on what? One of them has actually scored points and played fairly well in the NHL and the other has not.

Just wonder if they use the prospects to go big game hunting vs this. Rosen saw his ELC slide so we don't have to move him or anything for a while

Rosen could never play a game in the NHL, so cut the crap. Rosen have middle 6 potential so does Barron have 4th-6th potential. You clearly haven’t scout Barron to said such stupid thing. Barron have notable attributes that make him a prime candidate. He just is inconsistent and need to work on is defensive decisions making. Need to get stronger also. He got great skating, great puck moving skill and a very good shot. He will play in the NHl sooner than lat

Could see both teams using either guy to make a Hockey trade. I dunno, maybe with Montreal adding a pick? It's too early in the AM to be thinking about this.

Rosen hasn't proven anything to be considered a sure thing top 6 Winger. I don't like the trade, but Rosen might never hit the big club with the Sabres especially with who's coming and the Forward extensions that could be in place.

They might not have space for him, but he's definitely got middle 6 talent and that's where most project him. If they traded him it's not because they gave up on him, as most people imply when they see Rosen in a trade, it's because we have way too many forwards

You're right. Rosen scrap. barron a potential superstar. We'd feel guilty so decline. Keep him or send him elsewhere. ****

Yes, he has middle 6 potential just like Barron still has Top 4 potential. Defenseman usually always take longer.

Barron never had top 4 potential, Rosen was drafted with middle 6 potential that's the difference

7 games, 8 min of ice time, 8 shots,16 % faceoffs

He is clearly not close to be a top 6 forward. He have potential to get there for sure but i doubt he will pass in front of Quinn, Peterka, Cozens, Benson, Ostlund, Thompson, Tuch, Kulich, Savoie in a near future. At some point Buffalo will have to trade some of them or they will lose them on waivers or trade them at their lowest value.

Ah yes, the 4th line minutes he got in relief of an injured player is exactly how they plan to utilize him and not at all a subject of the circumstances of which he played those games...
