Nikishin plus Morrow is too much... although i'd love it

Nikishin and a 1st
Or
Koivunen / Morrow / 1st / 2nd (with conditions) +

is more like it yet they'll still claim it's an overpayment not realizing fully that 1) the blues don't have to trade Buch this TDL and 2) if the deal is made, its half retained so they get him at 2.9 mil for this year AND next.. which for a PPG player is a steal

Morrow maybe, but they're not giving up Nikishin and they're definately not giving up both.

Fair. But what Package would Carolina reasonably put together. I feel like Morrow, plus 1st, plus 2nd gets shot down by canes fans all the time.

I understand Nikishin be unavailable.

Morrow + a 1st + a 2nd is a completely reasonable package. Canes fans ought to be on board

I think that with the term we have in our forward group, and lack of term on defense, the Canes should not trade either Morrow or Nikishin. I think that trading Nadeau and Blake (the two top forward prospects for the Canes) won't hurt the team as much long term while still offering valuable pieces. Carolina also doesn't need Buchnevich to be retained, they have plenty of deadline space, so take out the second? 1st, Blake, Nadeau for Buchnevich unretained maybe?

The only issue with that is that the Blues have plenty of forward prospects and are going to look at D if they are moving Buch at the Deadline. Otherwise they will wait until the offseason when there are more suitors.

I would say one of Blake or Nadeau and then one of someone like Ponomarev/Koivunen/Perron/etc plus the first

Edit: I would personally still hesitate at even this price. It's a lot for a pure rental. I don't think we should trade any of Nikishin, Morrow, Nadeau, or Blake

Then if I were GM I'd probably look elsewhere. Maybe I'm higher on Morrow than most, but with the lack of quality RHD in the system and on the roster next year I don't think you can trade him.

Fwiw I have a pretty high opinion of Morrow and would trade for him as well.
