Surprised the 3rd isn't going the other way considering Peeke has been a scratch for most of the year

Columbus win here! Peeke is way too expensive for number 6 defenseman role. Zboril - if resigned - will get less than $1M and if recalled to NHL may provide similar quality on ice. Third round pick would be adequate price for Peeke a season prior to the current but I understand Boston wanted to shed some salary by including Zboril's $1.1M in this trade.

Sweeney forgot Zboril wasn't on the roster and didn't need to dump him LOL.

On a serious note, it's a whatever trade. Yes BOS has a weakness on the right side in terms of depth in the future, so I could see why they were interested in the term Peeke has. I know the probability of that 3rd turning into an NHL player is extremely low, but still feel like they could've leveraged CBJ possibly trying to dump Peeke in the future like some reports indicate.

Definitely seems like BOS was targeting Peeke. We'll see how it works out.

Oh and don't forget about that whole fiasco at last years deadline involving Gavrikov. CBJ felt like they had a deal in place and BOS pulled out at the last moment. May have played a factor here, who knows. Fun to think about.

Might be the worst trade of the deadline. What is Boston doing? Peeke is in buyout territory and they actually gave up value for him.

He is not. He is a serviceable defensive bottom pair D-man.

A $3 million healthy scratch in Columbus
An injured 35YO

I argued all season long with CLB fans that Harris would be a good fit for their team. Imagine getting Zboril instead lol.

trade feels less about getting Zboril than it was about getting rid of Peeke. Between Jiricek, Ceulemans, & Mateychuk, Columbus has a glut of young d-men that are going to need roster spots sooner than later. Moving out Peeke's deal that had 2 more years of term on it clears the runway for Jiricek to come back up from the AHL at the very least.
