Team cant do that it would go before the NHLPA and become an issue. You cant force a player to waive their NTC/NMC as if it gets out that team will be reprimanded

It's such a ridiculous thought, that Tavares is waiving his NMC, and has suggested, even a buyout doesn't help the cap.
Isn't is kinda funny how Leafs fans hate their aging players....Tavares and Brodie. But somehow signing near 30 year old Lindholm to four years (as his seven points in seventeen games with the Canucks)
and Pesce and Roy to contracts that take them age 34 and 35. is so wise to some.

I think the Hawks would do that, but I also think they'd likely retain and flip him to a team he'd want to go to for an actual return. I don't think the Hawks want him in the lineup honestly, they want the kids to grow and build their own culture, hence Toews and Kane aren't there anymore.

Tavares isn't waiving for Chicago and the Hawks aren't getting a first (?!) to take him on.
