Description

Hear me out a minute.... Jarry for Gibson? Bad contract for bad contract. Fresh start for both goalies.

What would happen to get a deal like this done? 1 for 1 or who would need to add?

In my opinion I would say Ducks add a bit like a 3rd or 4th rd pick as Jarry is younger and has a slightly smaller cap hit.

What are your thoughts???

I think ANA rather ride and die with Gibson than trading him for a goalie with an extra year

No reason for Pens to do this imo

Gibson is older, higher cap hit & statistically the worse goalie

An older, high AAV goalie coming back to Anaheim in a Gibson trade would need to have less term than Gibson. More term is the exact opposite of what the team wants.

Jarry, Merzlikins, Campbell, Korpisalo, etc. All these guys are non-fits.

Gibson still steals games for Anaheim, Jarry pisses away wins for the Pens. Put Jarry behind Ana's defense the last two seasons and his stats would be way worse.

We'll ride with our guy, and any desire Gibson would have had to go to Pitt has dried up now that they're no longer a contender (or even a pretender)

PIT doesn't need a goalie.
They have Bloom playing very well in WBS and frankly looks ready to make the jump.
If anything Pens will trade Jarry out for futures to a team in need of a goalie and save on cap.

Jarry doesn't really have a bad contract though. He's probably better and is cheaper than Gibson at this point. Just doesn't seem to make much sense for the Pens imo - kinda seems like you're trading for a guy because he's from Pittsburgh
