Blues don't really need another offensive defenseman when our overall team defense is garbage....

Would have to pass on that

I think I'd rather just keep Hronek at 8x8 along with Raty and the 1st. Maybe move the 1st in a different deal to upgrade the forwards.

8x8 for hronek would age about as well as unrefrigerated milk.

He's going to get close to that. If not in VAN, some other team will do it.

should there ever be a world where hronek is the 14th highest paid d man in the league?

Given how good he's been the last few seasons, plus his age, I honestly wouldn't be upset if he signed an 8x8 in VAN. I'm hoping the AAV ends up a little lower (I'm predicting an 8 x $7.75m compromise), but he's a legitimate top pairing guy. Is he a true #1? No, probably not. But he's been an excellent #2 guy.

Eh Blues pass. Hronek is good but he is playing with Hughes. Don't think he will be as good playing with Leddy and will cost more money than Parayko. Think we can also get a better offer for buch than Raty and a 1st.

True but you had Seider playing the #1 role on detroit. I don't think Hronek would do well playing the #1 role on stl with Leddy. He would be good to replace Faulk on the 2nd pair but not Parayko on the 1st. Plus he will want more money than Parayko and we will still have the same problem that we have now if we swapped Hronek for Parayko.

worth pointing out i think that hronek actually averaged more 5v5 time per game than seider last season. seider did play more on the pk and slightly more on the pp. also probably worth pointing out that seider's play has dipped significantly this year being thrown into the heaviest work load in the league without hronek there to share the burden.

maybe the blues are better off with parayko but i think you are underrating hroneks ability as a top pair dman

I think Hronek can play on the top pair with a great partner which he has in hughes. When he was on Detroit he shared difficult matchups with the Seider pair. On the blues he will have to play a role he has never played before because Krug and Faulk get majority of the offensive zone time and easier matchups. Hronek at detroit was around 50% offensive zone time while Parayko is around 36-38%. Overall it doesn't make sense from our perspective to go from Parayko to Hronek. I'd love to Hronek to be on our team but only to replace Faulk and not Parayko
